Last I checked a dictionary, I didn't find any capitalized Art.
It's all just art, and you're getting rather good, too.
Not that I'd want to spoil your enjoyment by infecting you with
ambition or theory. It's taken me decades to overcome ambition
and theory to reach pure fun.
Trying to sell art or make sellable art is a huge pain
and requires massive hubris and nerves of steel.
Few people have it. Pollock was drinking himself to death
at the time he crashed his car under the influence.
He was just as uncomfortable with the drip paintings as you.
The rest of his work reflects massive struggles, while the
drips achieve a certain calm amidst the storm. He was deeply
suspicious of their easy genesis. By the time he died, he was
using brushes again, trying to find another way of painting
something never seen before.
That's the main problem of western art: centuries of art history
going "Been there, done that, seen it all before."
Unlike other cultures, we are simply not comfortable
repeating ourselves. The hunger for progress is a basic trait
of our culture. Curse or blessing? Who knows...
