While we're on this thread, Notroll, can you explain to me how those
African Negro people first came into slavery? That is, did the slave
traders dock their ships then go ashore and capture some slaves, or
did the slave traders barter for some slaves that had already been
captured and imprisoned by their neighboring tribe Negro people?
I cannot see any way that those slave trader ships could have had the
necessary resources to dock their ships then go ashore to overwhelm
the native people and take a ship load of them captive to be
transported to another country and sold as slaves.

While we're on this thread, Notroll, can you explain to me how those
African Negro people first came into slavery? That is, did the slave
traders dock their ships then go ashore and capture some slaves, or
did the slave traders barter for some slaves that had already been
captured and imprisoned by their neighboring tribe Negro people?
I cannot see any way that those slave trader ships could have had the
necessary resources to dock their ships then go ashore to overwhelm
the native people and take a ship load of them captive to be
transported to another country and sold as slaves.

Are you saying the slave traders could drop anchor off shore then load
themselves, their guns, bullets and powder kegs into a group or small
dinghy boats then paddle ashore and easily overwhelm a whole tribe of
natives? And, those natives couldn't flee into the jungle or where
ever they could get and be long gone before the slave traders got
their ship anchored and their dinghy boats ashore.
Those primitive guns had to be muzzle loaded, and this took from 2 to
4 minutes, and the powder would be worthless if it got wet in the
process of transporting it in the dinghy. I would think those natives
warriors could have easily swamped the slave traders as they fumbled
with their dinghy boats, trying to get them ashore and get their
cumbersome guns out and ready to use...and get their powder kegs out
and thoroughly dried off before opening them.
It seems a lot more likely that the slave traders had worked out some
kind of agreement with certain native tribes, having them capture and
imprison slaves from other tribes, then sell, barter, etc., as they
were able when the slave traders arrived.
