Dear Jet:

I would like to publicly apologize -- you deserve it. You haven't
done anything at all to me to deserve me being mean to you.

I shouldn't have called you a tit, and obviously I ~am~ interested in
your input or I wouldn't have responded at all.

*sigh*

I really should make sure I've actually eaten at some point in the
last 24 hours before I post.

You don't need my permission to post Flonker's real life info in a slow
and deliberate manner via sock, hoping that it causes the target immense
mental pain based on serious life-threatening events previously
suffered.

But you knew that.

Can real-life outing socks get mhm numbers?

If so, can you speed the process of assigning them, since socks have
such a short shelf-life?

You misunderstood what I'd wrote.

I said you, (and let me add - or anyone else) doesn't need my permission
to post real life info. I didn't write that you had.

Since I clarified that, can you clarify this?:

Message-ID: <j8fpkugl0rpnc4tau...@4ax.com>

It seemed that you apologized for calling Jet on her claiming that this
was just a troll on LT's part:

>>
>It was a troll, Bunny. Nobody was outed.

You are a tit, jet. I'm not particularly interested in your
input.

===

How do you feel about people's real life info being outed?

Are there gray areas going on that I may have missed?

Yes, but posting Flonkers' real life info in a slow and deliberate
manner via a sock, hoping that it causes the target immense mental

pain based on serious life-threatening events previously suffered

isn't enough. One also has to be funny about it.

Are you suggesting the "real west" is B.C.?

Everything west of the Rockies?

Or everything west of Vancouver? <g>

B.C. is stunningly beautiful country.

But still way cold.

Yep. That makes Ft. St. John part of the east, but that's no big loss,

West of Victoria, then?

"Sometimes", my ass! OK, I take that back, BC isn't cold *all* the time,
but most of my experience has been further east, and it was cold all the

Northeast corner of BC, on the other side of the Rockies.

Nelson is a beautiful little town. Nelson was one of the stars of that
Steven Martin movie, the one based upon Cyrano What'sHisName.

I did a couple of years in Kamloops. In the winter, very cold. In the
summer, hotter than hell.

OK. Don't believe I've ever been there. That sounds too close to the
Yukon, way too far north for my tastes. You're right, no big loss there.

Exactly. If ones goes far enough West, it becomes the East.

I forget the name of the movie, I know Darryl Hannah was in it.
De'Bergerac. From photos my cousin has showed me it does look like a
pretty area. They have about 30 acres, or maybe 60. They don't live
right in Nelson, more like near Winlaw.

I've been through Kamloops but never spent any time there. I think the
Okanagan (?sp?) valley might be a relatively nice place to live.

That old rivalry, the Lions vs. the Eskimos, and all. BC vs. Alberta.
Since both provinces share the Rockies, I think they're both lovely. Of
course BC does have the ocean, and that's a *huge* plus factor.

I'm not up to date on who's who in politics in either province but seems
to me many places are getting pitted that used to be really great
places.

I've never been to Green Lake, and can't recall if I've been to Kelowna,
if so it was a long time ago.

This year I'm blaming everything on El Nino, but I hear you about global
warning. No-one wanted to pay attention to the warnings
environmentalists tried to give long enough ago that it might have
helped. Bummer.

Green Lake is near 70 Mile House -- the snow gets /deep/, there, in
winter -- where my Uncle Morley used to live (now he's on the Island (the
big 'un))...Kelowna, on Lake Okanagan, is currently like an oven, so my
mother says (she just got back from visiting there for a few days), and
it can also get pretty deep, in January.

Ah, "The Unspeakable" what an appelation. If he's aptly yclept he must
be quiteaguy. Alberta has had some real stinkers for what seems like a
long time, (from what little I do hear and keep up with from there).

OK, I'm guessing: Greater Vancouver Recreational District? That doesn't
seem right, how could anything be west of... ah, all the offshore
islands? I always wanted to own my own offshore B.C. island and live as
far south as I could possibly get and still be in Canada. Something
you'd have to get to by boat or helicopter.

I can imagine how deep the snow must get. I went through there once in
winter on a road trip to Mexico, and it was gorgeous (but very cold).
No, wait, that would have been Kamloops, I think, not Kelowna, if coming
from Jasper (or Banff)? Ah, it was such a long time ago, and there were
so many things to smoke, who can remember?

...*Regional*...No, actually, if one draws a line north from Vancouver to
the Yukon, approximately one-third to half the province will be *west* of
Vancouver...

Kelowna is the place to be. It's a lot greener than Kamloops, which is
much more arid. Kelowna is right on Okanagan Lake, they even have their
own "Nessie", named OgoPogo.

That would have been Kamloops. Would that have been '81/'82? Snowed like
a sumbitch both winters. I have a picture of my Old's Cutlass ('75, so a
rather large vehicle) in the Aberdeen Mall parking lot. The snow mounds
are a good 20 feet high all around. There was 3 feet of snow on our road
on Saturday morning, i spent the day "plowing" it with the front of that
Cytlass. It was a blast.

It was a lot different from being in Vancouver for the winter. The snow
started in mid October, and stuck around (a bit unusual even for 'Loops)
until mid March. Got so cold in '81 that the anti-freeze in my radiator
turned into imitation Lime Slushy. Spent a day laying in the snow taking
the hoses off. Couldn't work for more than 10 minutes without going inside
to warm up by the fire.

The next summer, a rattle snake crawled out from under that car. I
preferred freezing my ass off to having that critter suddenly appear.

That's serious snow! It was much earlier. A traveling companion and I
had a rented truck camper and we got a flat tire somewhere in the
mountains in BC one evening. When my friend got out to change it, he had
to dig down through ice and snow enough to be able to fit the jack
underneath. While he was doing that I noticed two huge timber wolves
watching us from just inside the treeline off the road. They were
lovely. There was a lot of snow, and we beelined for the border looking
for warmer weather as soon as we could get to it. We traveled through
Bend, Oregon at some point, but that may have been on the return trip.
My memory is a bit fizzy on the details of some of the traveling we did,
including several driving trips to Mexico from Canada.

That's what I mean about the cold weather there. Having to leave a tap
running just a bit to keep the water lines from freezing, plugging in
cars if parked for several hours. Vancouver area winter temperatures are
more to my preference although I do love the mountains.

I've never seen a snake in Canada (have never seen a rattlesnake
anywhere). You must have been a bit freaked, to say the least.

Not all that silly (as ideas go), not that Canada would ever let BC
secede. Some very pretty country in all those states. Despite Idaho
having (AIUI) a lot of survivalist types living there, the parts of it
I've been through were lovely.

What makes Dawson City a particularly interesting place? Is it the
people, the scenery, the night life, or what? I don't think I know where
Watson Lake is, and it sounds like I'm not missing much.

I lived in Anchorage Alaska once, long time ago, for a year, and it was
a terrific place, IMHO.

They rave about it a lot, and it does look very nice from photos and
videos I've seen. They live in an isolated area with a big hot tub they
use year-round on a multi-level deck (even in the winter). They have
numerous buildings on the property, including a salon my cousin built
for his wife. They have an "open-house" policy with a lot of friends
always coming and going, and they grow their own smokes, along with
almost everything they eat. They keep telling me any time I want to come
and live there I can have 5 acres of my own to build on. Sometimes I'm
rather tempted.

I do love the green places, so probably would like Kelowna a lot. When I
was in high school I was best friends with a girl who came from
Kamloops. A few years later I was close friends with another woman who
came from Kamloops. At the time I wasn't as interested in learning about
what it was like there as I am now. I think someplace in B.C. would be a
lovely place to live. Ultimately it would have to be someplace near the
ocean, though.

That's quite a title you have there; you must have to keep an eye out
for the comma police.

It still has a very distict Canadian flavor that I love, though.

From what I've been hearing, all the politicos in Canada seem to be
terrible. That's not limited to Canada, obviously.

That's an interesting fact I hadn't known. That's the type of question
one could stump people with on some quiz show, IMO.

I don't blame you. I got lost when you mentioned 70 mile house, so I
still don't know where Green Lake is. According to Spooge, if we were
coming through Banff or Jasper from Alberta heading for the U.S. border
it would have been Kamloops we went through on that trip. I think that
trip was just before Christmas. I recall a tiny little tree in the
vehicle decorated with a cheap string of silver beads on one of the
several trips to Mexico, and that I was homesick (it was the first time
I had spent Christmas away from family).

Nice scenery doesn't pay enough bills to be relied upon though. Forestry,
fishing and mining, in that order, were the economic engines of the BC
economy at one time. All three are effectively dead now.

Dawson has retained its Frontier Town look. Dirt roads, elevated wooden
sidewalks. An old style saloon/gambling hall with can-can dancers. The
regular population of about 5,000 grows to over 50,000 in the summertime.

All around are old gold claims, still being worked by miners. It's not
unusual to see someone carrying a little baggie filled with gold-dust,
which is still negotiable at the one local bank, and with the local
merchants.

Visit the 'Downtown Motel' bar, and enjoy a Sour Toe coctail. Yes, that is
a real human toe in your glass. Take it into your mouth (please, don't
swallow the toe, those are hard to replace!) and you can drink for free all
night.

I missed the ocean so much while I lived in 'Loops that by the end of my
stay there I was doing the 7 hour (only route was via the Fraser Canyon at
that time) drive to Vancouver at least once a month, just so I could stand
on the beach and smell the sea.

Now the superfluous commas are gone. So there. Also, I have many

Well, the crime rate is still smaller, at least -- excepting politicians,
natch.

Well, no -- but the ones we have seem to be worse than necessary...

Wow. That's some happening tourism. The place does sound very charming.

In my drinking days I could have handled that, for free drinks all night
(I think). The toe would have to be pretty clean, having been pickled in
alcohol and all. As for the grossness quotient, it's all relative to the
worm in the bottle, isn't it? Still, gross!

The town does sound very interesting. I'd quite like it.

Hyder isn't a place I'm familiar with, but I loved Homer's Spit. That
was a charming town. I've been fortunate, I guess, in that everyplace
I've ever lived has been very appealing, with real nice folks.

Amazing how many places have desert-like areas where most people would
expect forests or jungle. I don't know BC real well, but I never would
have expected desert anywhere in the province. Has it always been like
that, or is it a result of too much timber being harvested?

AFAIK, we've always had a desert in that region...

That's pretty amazing, IMHO, for a province so well known for being very
foresty. All the parts of BC I've ever been to have been extremely green
and lush. I've heard it's being (or was being) logged heavily, so I
wondered.

Can you tell me why so many of deano's thugs feel the need to dogpile her?

She's never claimed to be a flamer and she's posted many times that she
isn't.

I'd thought this group (the flonk) was a lot more about a certain amount
of fun and nonsensical playing with words and just being silly. I'm not
a writer, a troller or flamer, but I do love non sequiters, and silly
limericks and laughter. I read those who do troll, flame, and write well
and have appreciation for them, but does everyone here have to try be
just like that?
