It certainly does.
True, but you could say: "People who live in brick houses shouldn't
throw bombs." So you see it has to be cardboard specific.
How about:
"People who live in cardboard boxes shouldn't throw parties"?

I think somewhere along the line in some of this we may find that adults
(in these
and other similar cases) have failed the kids badly. I'm not so sure
that the issue
in this case *is* necessarily _all_ about kids being bullied or
marginalized
(although obviously that happens way too much in society).
I have a 6 year old grandson who I fear may be well on his way to
becoming a
possible future name in the news some day - a budding little sociopath.
This child
(one of my 4 grandchildren, 2 by each of my daughters) has absolutely
no fear of
authority, no feelings about consequences of his actions, and is
manipulative to an
_amazing_ extreme. He didn't like kindergarten so he acted up so badly
(hitting
other kids, teachers,. etc.) that he was actually expelled, and moved
ahead into
grade 1 (which he wanted, and which he now doesn't like, so he's acting
up again and
just got dropped from the one class he most disliked). So he's already
learned that
acting out violently gets him what he wants. He spits on, hits, and
swears at his
Mother, me (when I'm in Canada visiting), teachers, his 9 year old
sister, playmates
- anyone who doesn't give in to what he wants. I've seen a small sly
smile slide
across his angelic looking face when he has just driven his Mom over the
edge of
patience and he gets his way yet again because she is too frazzled (or
too
weak-willed) to cope anymore, and gives him his way. When I'm looking
after him and
he spits on me and swear at me, I carry him upstairs (kicking and
screaming) and I
*make* him stay in his room for a couple of hours. Pleading and
wheedling and
cajoling for early release don't work on me. It shocks him, - no-one
else treats him
that way. He usually treats me with more respect (and caution) than
other adults.
Perhaps it's only because he so rarely sees me.
Both my daughters were raised the same way, they were and are both good
people who
were neither the most or the least popular in school. My youngest
daughter raises
her 2 kids with a firm hand (time outs, being sent to the room for
misbehavior,
treats withheld for misbehavior, etc.). Her 2 kids are normal, decent,
polite,
happy, and well adjusted. My elder daughter doesn't carry out her almost
constant *
threats* of punishment, she talks in front of her kids about how "the
kids are in
charge - I give up - I can't do anything with them, etc." - and I see
her kids
digging on it! They are feeling some real power, because they know
they're getting
what they want. Neither of these 2 kids is being abused, bullied or
marginalized in
school or at home. Their Mom is letting them down by allowing them to
grow up to be
jerks. Other family members make excuses not to baby-sit these 2 kids
(my grandson
in particular is what I would call borderline sociopathic - he doesn't
have ADD or
any other disorder to explain his behavior). It's what he's learning at
home that he
is permitted to do by the authority figures in his life (his Mom,
teachers, etc).
The thought of what *he* might do in 10 years if he *felt* he was being
bullied,
marginalized, or whatever terrifies me. My 9 year old granddaughter
threatens to
call 911 and report her Mom for abuse (her children have never been
spanked, as my
daughter does not believe in it at all) when she and my daughter get
into
disagreement about something the kids want to do. Usually my daughter
backs down and
lets the kids have their way.
So who is in in charge in this household? The kids, obviously. I've
spent hours on
the phone trying to get my daughter to parenting classes, family
counseling, -
_anything_. She thinks I'm overreacting to the situation, and despite
years of
trying to talk to her about this (she's the daughter I'm probably
closest to) she
doesn't feel counseling is needed, and makes excuses for her kids'
behavior.
Back to Littleton, and Taber, and other child murderers in the news the
past year or
2 - I think some of these kids *may* be cases where adults around them
have failed
to do their jobs properly. As you say - we haven't heard much yet from
the adults
involved here.

I think some folks raised their children with much looser standards than
they way
they were raised, - but I'm not sure that's the whole point here,
either.

Hell, Bob, are we even holding *ourselves* to those same standards
anymore?

Exactly - the adults in this case, and many other cases, frequently have
played some
role in permitting things to get way too far out of hand with their own
children (as
bulliers or the bullied - or just little budding sociopaths that nobody
ever
bothered to take to some counseling sessions). Ya know, I'm still just
musing aloud
here, I sure don't have the answers - but I do know I wouldn't be real
shocked if my
grandson at age 10 or 12 decided to off somebody, simply because he felt
like it. I
hope to hell I'm wrong, I love that little kid - but someone needs to
get a grip on
what's going on inside that boy's mind.

There's so much apathy in the world today, I can't see any cause that
would get
people up and marching in serious numbers, the way we did for any of the
causes of
those times, seriously.

While Bob's position sounds extreme, he does have a point
that rape is given far more importance than it deserves.
How many men would spend their lives crying if a woman
forced them to have sex with them? Or worry about prosecuting
their wife if she forced him to have sex with her? The rape hysteria
says more about women's frigidity and lack of respect
for men's sexuality than it does about the severity of the crime.

I think he's showing signs of paranoid schizophrenia and the wheels
falling off.
Yesterday's barrage was either a)unadulterated spamming of ungodly
proportions or b)the test run of a new bot.
I don't feel a damn bit sorry for him, as he did it to himself.
In the face of truth, he spoke lies.
In the face of facts and his own track record, he twisted everything to
fit his own sick agenda.
In the face of many chances to cease and desist, he kept on.
In short, may he go to hell for once and for all.
