Dear Mr. Lahr,
How can a man who has charmed the youth of America
as the lion in _The Wizard of Oz_, appear in a play
which is communistic, atheistic and existential.

Decisions, decisions.
I like the second one (first ain't too bad either), so therefor, you
shall purchase the Yves Tanguy painting for me. Thanks a lot. If you
don't have my mailing address, I'll send it to you in private email. Ok

Be smart and do what I did: snag both and then go to c-net and grab
opera 5 and limewire too. I'm on a downloading spree.

I imagine even hand copies would be a bit steep.
And I wonder why, WHY, no one seems to have even a thumbnail of Miro's
"Man with a Pipe", that big pretty orange cubist/primitivist essay
with the fucked-up dog (it makes me laugh).

I'm on a dial-up and hate downloading, basically-- and MacroSoft
upgrades are the worst.
All that GUI stuff sho' takes up a lot a memory, even compressed.

Nope. Neither one. Or at any of about a dozen others I've looked at.
It's a plot.

but...that first link is to a painting called "man with a pipe."
what gives?
Umm, it could be "Man with Pipe", or some such.
For example, "Dog Barking at the Moon" is not the same painting as
"Dogs Barking at the Moon", both by Miro (the first was selected as
the best painting of the Twentieth Century by _Time_, for some strange
reason . . . ).

*bzzt* Nope. Although that's pretty odd.
I even looked at one site that allowed you to search by subject and by
dominant color (for interior decorators' use, apparently, which is a
concept that made me reel-- "We need some fine art in blue here"-- if
I had some major piece by a major artist I'd be more inclined to
design the room around the piece . . . ).
The picture in question is a room interior, man with pipe in upper
right- hand corner, dog in lower left- hand. More cubist/ primitivist
than his sloshier stuff.
Anyone who finds a nice jpeg of it can cancel any given one of my
posts free . . . .
(One thing I suspect may be a problem is that as I recollect it was
rather large, although not a mural, and therefore could not be
conveniently rendered-- without shrinking-- as a poster <shrug>.)

Frankly, at this point I'm beginning to believe I dreamed it.

Who was that surrealist who did, like, quite a few if not entirely,
underseascapes? With, like, those radially- symmetric multi- limbed
doodads that crawl around down there. The name escapes me (of both
the artist and the doodads).

Please tell me if you remember who and what the doodads are. I love
surrealist art.

I'd go for the Miro. But if they had a screensaver based on one of Tanguy's
exploding sculptures - well, that would be another thing altogether.

Ooh, nice Miro panel, giving some feel for his productiveness:
