using Liquin and odorless turpentine for brush painting, and the
odorless
turpentine to thin the colors I want to spray with.
I know there are pre-mixed sprayable colors made for airbrush, but I
wasn't sure if they are made to work with oils that are painted on. It
also seems like it would be more difficult with
those to match colors that are brush painted on.
Spraying with with the Turpenoid works okay, but it is always a very
flat finish and I thought
there might be a more modern, or different, method that has more gloss
to it. Thanks for the help, JB
I doubt premixed acrylic airbrush colors can be used with oils. You can
paint oils over acrylic with no problems but you can't paint acrylics over
oils because of the difference in drying times. Oils take around 6 months to
fully dry.
Personally I use alkyds which are a fast drying oil. They are generally dry
in 12 hours and can be varnished in one month. I also use liquin and
thinners as my standard medium. I've never had the need to airbrush my oils
as oils are so easy to blend etc with a brush anyway.
