Tiger Painting // Fur // how to question?

How do airbrush artist get paint the fur on tigers?

I've seen some beautiful rendering of tigers and
I'm quite astonished at how real and life-like the
fur looks.

Do they use a sable brush or is that all with an
airbrush?

Any suggestions or know how tips on that?

I would think the hard part would be getting the tiger to sit still long
enough to let you paint him.

The way I do fur is to scrape out all the fur detail with a scalpel. Build
the paint up in layers and keep scraping in between the layers of paint. I
used to paint a lot of tigers and other cats before I did pinups. The effect
is so realistic. It's the same technique I use for hair on my pinups. Look
at some of these paintings by Meinrad Froschin. It's exactly the same

Wow! I really caught myself second guessing that those were
Photoshop'ed Digital Camera pics. The clowns sweater actually has the
"fuzz" on it..... Majorly detailed work, and he probably knocks them
out in 30 minutes! lol

Very impressive to my hobby eye!
