Idiot, she asked what's been going on on alt.adoption, NOT what's been going
on in your mind or what you've learned recently.

Ghoulagirl

I'm multi-talented: I can talk and piss you off at the same time.

Uh - yeah - that would be cool. All I know is that Kim *and* her
birthmom are posting, which is a, uh - real bugout, as they used to
say in my old neighborhood. How about Tina's reaction when shown
Kim's old postings? I'd get a kick outa of seeing that.

Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Ya know deer, from what I've heard it's been mostly search wars and
anti-adoption tirades punctuated by aparents and paps howling
"exception!" and "ingratitude!"

Man, remember the good old days?...

I don't think you really would have "gotten a kick" out of seeing my
reaction to them, at least nobody around me at the time, got a kick out
seeing my reaction to them. Kim had a different perspective of our
reunion and our relationship than I had at that time. I knew that her
anger was intense, but I was shocked by what I found when I finally came
online in early 1998. With nearly every post I read, I felt as though I
was being punched hard in the stomach over and over again. Kim was in a
lot of pain.

I think that our relationship has come a long way from the days of those
posts. I'd prefer to not see them mentioned again. Unfortunately, there
are people who feel the need to repost them from time to time. Whatever.

Tina

I hope some over-ardent beaver didn't get the best of him...

Or maybe he's still blowing up beaver dams somewhere in the far north,
out of civilization's way - preparing for the millenium.

I'm sorry for the callous remark, Tina. I could imagine how you
would have felt. Since I haven't been on a.a. in a long time, I have
no idea how far Kim has come in her anti-birthmother virulence, but
the few posts I perused sounded like what I remembered - but I could
be wrong.

Anyway - cheers,

Obviously you haven't been reading the spewings of Mess, Di and our old pal
Laura Looney. I merely give back to them in spades what they dish out. I bet
you'd really like the Origins webpage - these BIRTHMOTHERS have got a shrine to
Adopted Serial Killers, as well as pages and pages devoted to papers which
"prove" that all adopted children (you know we never grow up) are all
ungrateful, maladjusted, psychotic, stalking, serial-killing, animal-torturing,
bed-wetting, lying, thieving sociopaths.

It'll warm your heart.

I've heard about it.

Heh. It seems to be a common solace to anti-adoptionists - as if
being adopted itself turns people into psychos. Lots of therapists
and "experts" running around making money off of the notion that
adoption screws you up - and only therapy will unscrew you. As if.
The only demonstrable pattern I've known among crazy adoptees is that
they tend to come from crazy birthmoms. Or perhaps I should use a
more appropriate term - mentally ill birthmoms. The adoptees I've
known (or know of) who have committed suicide or had serious mental
problems come from birthparents with mental problems. The sealed
records system allows these "do-gooder" (hahah) agencies and attorneys
to take babies from women in mental hospitals, prisons and brothels
and "give them a chance" in "normal" homes. Without informing the
aparents what they're getting into of course. I assume they justify
their god-playing actions to themselves with some variety of the "they
coulda ended up in a sewer or aborted" argument.

My birthheritage, on the other hand, reflects (on my mother's side)
social climbers who didn't want the shame of illegitimate birth to mar
their daughter's chance of marrying a senator. I'm fairly sure my
birthfather's family would have kept me and that my birthfather would
have married my birthmother had he known about it - and had she let
him. Most adopted people (adopted as infants) are not suicidical,
homicidal or any more generally violent than the general population.
People who have been through multiple foster cares or any abusive,
rootless childhood existance will be less trusting and more at risk
than most - but lumping the bulk of infant adoptions with this
population is a mistake imo, especially by birthmothers who
relinquished infants.

Am I a psycho because I'm adopted? Would you say that to my face?

And there's lots of psycho bmoms who are running around saying that adoption
screws you up and only your loving bmommy can "unscrew" you (after you disown
your adoptive parents, er sorry, I mean your evil babynappers). Failure to
believe this means you're maladjusted, ungrateful, etc. etc. oh yeah, and
you've been brainwashed by your evil babynappers too. Oh, and it's not
genetics that turns adoptees into suicides or psychos, but rather their evil
babynappers. Didn't you know that something like 99% of evil babynappers are
seriously disturbed/mentally ill? Thank God we have the Origins webpage to
tell us this stuff!

Because (at least in my recollection) your rhetoric used to be
directed at all birthmoms who weren't amusingly self-deprecatory about
their birthmotherhood (like Jackie). It now seems that your disgust
is more targeted.
