This is by far the most humane and loving solution. What it takes is love
and devotion from loved ones. Take the Pledge.

"Take the Pledge" Campaign Calls for Loyalty to Patient Health rather than
Assisted Suicide

By Kathleen Gilbert

December 16, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Anti-euthanasia groups in Canada and
Oregon are calling physicians, caregivers, and concerned citizens across the
world to "Take the Pledge" to pursue genuine care for even the most
dependent patients, and never to consent to assisted suicide.

Take-the-pledge.com, created by The Physicians for Compassionate Care in
Oregon and the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, provides links to several
anti-assisted suicide groups and invites caregivers and other visitors to
make a pledge that reaffirms the duty to "do no harm."

Rather than providing assisted suicide, by signing the pledge the signer
affirms, "Whenever I help provide care for a terminally-ill patient, I will
provide optimal comfort care until natural death."

"I will support my friend's or family member's wishes not to prolong the
dying process with futile treatment," the pledge continues. However, "I will
never give a deadly drug to anyone even if asked, nor will I suggest
suicide."

The pledge concludes, "I will always affirm and guard these ethical
principles with integrity, recognizing that every human life is inherently
valuable."

The campaign will be providing a professionally produced pledge that can be
displayed and will send up-to-date information on a voluntary basis to
medical care-givers to keep them informed.

Assisted suicide was legalized in Montana last week through a court ruling,
joining Oregon and Washington.

I take the pledge that If, one day, I have control over you, I'll make
sure that you suffer -without medication even, since that's what your
god wanted- "to the last drop". Even if there's no hope of recovery
and even if it's only a matter of weeks or days before you die. Why
should you die in dignity since you obviously don't know what that
word means? Why should you be spared of sufferings since you think
that other people's sufferings are laughing matter? I won't have to
make sure that no one visits you though since it's more than obvious
that you'll die alone. But I take the pledge that I'll make sure that
you "enjoy" each of your last hours on earth to the fullest.

How about that, for a pledge?

Devotion? Love?? Humane???????????? This is a pledge to force the
defenceless "loved one" to endure every last possible second of misery
and suffering in the cause of blind dogma. If you did that to a dog it
would be regarded as cruelty and probably cause for prosecution. Why
can't you treat humans with the same compassion and respect?.

Because J Young doesn't know the meaning of these words, compassion
and respect.
Why do you think he's alone and has nothing to do but to troll at a

Pledge or no, it's the patient's life. In this state, if they meet
the assisted suicide criteria, it's the patient's decision -- not the
physicians.

They didn't inflict any suffering, they just pledged to. Pledges like that
have a way of becoming completely irrelevant at the moment of truth. (See

I have zero problems with the individual deciding, in fact I would defend a
persons right to it. Deciding something like this for other people is
immoral and sadistic. A sickness actually. A control freak mentality.

How would you like it if the only part of you that could work was your
brain! And I could shove enough tubes and chemicals into you to keep you
alive for 30 more years? Let you sit in a room for days on end wilting and
suffering as your body slowly rots to no return? So you could watch as they
suffer and profit doing it?

In fact proponents of this are sinners. They sin because judgement is for
their maker, not for you to decide what is right or wrong for others.
Perhaps these people aught to spend more time on their own spirit and leave
others to theirs.

Can't possibly see why you'd believe that to be true.

It's entirely within their choosing how they die. It's not dictated
to them at all. But one of the options they have is essentially
painless -- which is not the least bit perverted.

Having been in that situation, all I can do is laugh and hope that
someday you are trapped in a failing body, at the point where the
medications don't stop the pain anymore, crapping the bed constantly
because you are too weak to move, and have some angel of mercy
refusing you the dignity of the death you pray for in every lucid
moment.

I watched a friend die of liver cancer this way. His very Christian
mother even went to court to overturn his DNR. About 30 of his friends
showed up to testify that he had told us that in the end, he just
wanted to go, no machines, no heroic measure.

Alas, we were unable to comply with his wishes regarding his body. He
wanted us to drop him on Fernando Valenzuela, on the mound at Dodger
Stadium, from a very great height. Instead, we took the urn containing
his ashes to a game at the 'Stick with a sign reading "I'm DEAD and I
still want to BEAT L.A.!"

Why set any rules at all?

I could say "consideral suffering" is potentially too restrictive. Why not
any suffering? Or do we need to argue it in court for 10 years first? That
little issue needs a whole lot more definition. I prefer the simple, if you
can't walk out of the place on your own unassisted, then the choice is
yours, the patient.

Even rats, dogs and cats get it better than many humans. In theory and
money no object I probably could pick up a roast beef from the supermarket
and keep it alive with enough drugs, chemicals and tubes. That does not
mean we should do it to parts of a cow or a human.

I don't believe it is. A lot depends on which hospital, the staff and
policies- even relatives.

Because the process of Setting Limits is an adult sort of thing, and
folks can and do set limits when they feel it's necessary.

I just hope you never have to suffer like so many people in this world
do so that life becomes unbearable for them.

There should be a suicide parlors in every town and city where people
who want to opt out of this life can go without fear to be helped in
the most dignified way to die. .

I love the "free thinking right". Who prohibit what my country's
constitution and supreme court has called "a right", the right of gay
people to be the same as others, and therefore have the right to be wed,
but not force Churches to marry them. That was figured out in the late
2000's. Then there's abortion, figured out around the same time that we
outlawed capital punishment.

The USA? They're still claiming that there is a "slipperly slide" with gay
people being married, as they still think that marriage is not a question
of both parties saying yes, but one day an American will be able to marry
his Goat, or Dachund.

Americans and their fundamental love for live stock? Who knows?

There are millions who think that we were created by a "God".

And if you don't agree, you will never become President.

"Parsifal" is one sick puppy. He enjoys the thought of others suffering
without any pain medication. Between this and the fact that he sees 'gay' in
every thread posted to Usenet makes him and Hitler almost like brothers.
Don't forget the Austrian connection also.

He isn't, although I'm finding it strange that he seems to be using
the term "nazi dirtbag" as an insult whet it is clear the duke admires
and emulates the qualities of nazis that make them the loathesome
measure of how much a dirtbag a person can be. That being said, I
guess I shouldn't be surprized because duke is consistently a liar and
demonstrates his cognitive dissonance on a many times a day basis.

So I call duke, acturately, many insulting things, but one of those
things isn't pedophile. After all why try to assign the man faults
when he areready has scores of repulsive qualities to choose from?

Nope. Not "others". You.
You're the one who thinks that an earthquake that kills tens of
thousands of Muslims is laughing matter. You're also the one who
thinks that the Holocaust is something to joke about.

Yup. I live in Vienna. Anything wrong with that?
We have good music, good concert halls, good wines, the crime rate is
negligible, there's a good healthcare system, we're close to Budapest,

Hey, J, people are talking about you on the alt.abortion,

that you had posted nazi-like things using various pseudonyms. The
