Evidenced by the results gay 'marriage' has had at the polls every single
time an initiative has been on the ballot, it is safe to say the the
Catholic Church has become the 'voice of the people'. The people appear to
be returning to their moral roots.

Catholic Church in State of Maine Steps up Fight against Same-Sex "Marriage"
Bill

By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

PORTLAND, Maine, September 9, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Roman Catholic
Diocese of Portland will be asking its parishes to take a special second
collection this weekend (Sept. 12 - 13) to contribute to the campaign to
reverse the same-sex "marriage" law passed by the state Legislature,
according to an AP report.

Money raised in the special collection will go to support the efforts of the
Stand for Marriage Maine coalition, which is leading the campaign to prevent
the homosexual "marriage" bill from becoming law by means of a statewide
referendum on the November ballot.

The communications director of the Diocese of Portland, Sue Bernard, was not
available for comment on this weekend's special collection by press time.

Last week, LifeSiteNews.com reported that Stand for Marriage Maine had
collected and submitted for certification over 100,000 signatures, well over
the required 55,087 validated signatures needed to bring the referendum to a
vote. This forced Secretary of State Matt Dunlap to effect a stay on the
proposed law until voters make the final decision at the polls on November
3rd.

Stand for Marriage Maine campaign chairman Marc Mutty explained that Maine's
law provides for a People's Veto when politicians pass a law over the
objection of the people. The issue will appear as Question 1 on the November
ballot.

"More than 100,000 Mainers signed petitions to do what the legislature and
Governor did not: allow the people of Maine to participate in the decision
of legalizing homosexual marriage," Mutty said. "Preserving the definition
of marriage as between a man and woman is far too important an issue to be
left solely in the hands of elected officials, without the input, consent
or, perhaps, even knowledge of Mainers."

Maine Jeremiah Project director Bob Emrich expressed his thanks to the more
than 1,000 volunteers who circulated petitions statewide and the registered
Maine voters who signed them.

"The value of their work is made plain today," said Emrich. "It means the
issue of homosexual marriage and its consequences has been wrested from the
hands of politicians and placed in the hands of the voters. We are confident
that Mainers will support Question 1 and restore traditional marriage like
thirty other states have done before us."

Marc Mutty cautioned that the work is not over, but was confident in the
final outcome of the vote.

"Stand for Marriage Maine will make sure LD 1020 (the bill legalizing
homosexual 'marriage') gets the full public hearing it merits, in the form
of Question 1," said Mutty. "That is, at a minimum, what legislators who
voted for this - and Governor Baldacci, who signed it - should have but did
not do."

The Catholic Church enabled pedophile, even providing them with fresh
victims. The Catholic Church is immoral.

I predict that we are within 3 decades of having same sex marriages
being legal at the national level. We just need another generation to
shake out the unwarranted homophobia that is ingrained in older
generations.

It is time that the tax exempt status of the Roman Catholic Church is
revoked for their meddling in politics in the various states of the
union. That a bunch of lace dress clad pedophiles in the Vatican can
meddle with impunity in the political life of this country is a
disgrace.

I personally do not give a rat's patootie if the Roman Catholic Church
wants to peddle its superstitions to its congregations but their
repeated attempts to interfere in the secular affairs of this country
is disgusting and a violation of the Constitution and the laws of this
country. We have no state religion in this country and the sooner
that Prada wearing pedophile Pope learns that the better.

Sorry, but the RCC does not meddle in politics. It's is religiously against
queer sex, queer marriage, abortion. There is NO declared support for a
specific program.

Oh good! So you're saying they have no actual objection to the

legislation on them?

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

This is the most foolish of all the arguments put foward by the enemies of
traditional marriage. No vote was *ever* taken about mixed race marriages;
liberal loons just assume what the results would be. In my town, we've had a
Chinaman and Mexican woman who have been married for many, many years and no
one has ever had any problems. The same neighbors would all oppose two
'married' men living in the community. Both stances are in line with the
teachings of the RCC.

I so hope part of the money collected will pay someone in the campaigh

like death, divorce, smog, or anything.

Oh really?

Then how did it come to pass that as late as the 1940s 38 states
still had laws prohibiting such mixed-race marriages. Did Moses
bring these laws down from the Mount Sinai?

But it exactly true. I was in my teens 50 years ago, and the same
people and groups who are whining now about same sex marriage, were
whining then about mixed race marriages.

The fags didn't write out a "letter of silence" to protect pedophiles,
the Catholic Church did, straight from the Vaitican in fact. The fags
didn't protect pedophiles and transfer them to new "hunting grounds"
instead of turning them over to the appropriate civil authority, the
Catholic Church did.

Sorry bub, but you can't blame the fags for the decades, and probably
centuries long cover-up.

The good news is we have wingnuts like J who are loyal catholics. The
rcc needs the cash flow to pay off all the lawsuits for protecting their
pedophile clergy.

Many rcc churches have been closed and sold to pay off these lawsuits. I
watched a priest in Portland Oregon on television. The media stuck a mic
in his face and asked him why he did it. He blamed the children. He said
they all came on to him. Of course this was before the rcc lawyers got
him to shut up.

J would like this cover up to continue. I also suspect he believes that
the priests are entitled to rape children. It was in the name of Jesus.
Every catholic like J knows that you are entitled to commit any atrocity
if it is done in the name of god.

It must be great to be so holy that you are entitled to break any moral
laws. No wonder J loves the church.

Patrick thinks that a human egg with a sperm sticking half way into it
is more deserving of protection than all the post born people without
the means to buy medical care.

Patrick figures, "I got my insurance, screw all these post born
paupers." He just loves those eggs with a sperm sticking out the side.
He should form a new church. He could get a lot of people to worship
that symbol and make a lot of money of the great unwashed, uneducated,
christian idiots. Patrick believes that god is actually a fertilized
egg. That is what he worships.

J still is still paying for the rcc lawsuits. He can't figure out why
anyone would not like the idea of a catholic priest raping a child. This
is of course, part of his religion.

J believes that two gay men having sex represent the worst thing in the
world, yet he approves of priests raping children. J is so brainwashed
that he believes that priests have that right.

If raping altar boys led pregnancy, the church would be

Kerry said to be excommunicated (Subscribe to RSS Feed)
Los Angeles, Oct. 18, 2004 (CWNews.com) -

A consultant to the Vatican has said Democratic presidential candidate John
Kerry has incurred the penalty of excommunication from the Catholic Church.

The consultant made his statement in a highly unusual letter to Marc
Balestrieri, a Los Angeles canon lawyer who formally sued John Kerry in
ecclesiastical court for heresy.

Balestrieri, who launched his case earlier this year by filing a heresy
complaint in Kerry's home archdiocese of Boston, told EWTN's "World Over"
program on Friday that he had received an unusual, indirect communication
from the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith regarding the
pro-abortion stance.

That communication provides a basis, he said, to declare that any Catholic
politician who says he is "personally opposed to abortion, but supports a
woman's right to choose," incurs automatic excommunication. It also provided
a basis for Balestrieri to broaden his canonical actions and file additional
complaints against four more pro-abortion Catholic politicians: Democrat
Senators Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts and Tom Harkin of Iowa; Republican
Senator Susan Collins of Maine; and former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, a
Democrat.

The current action could be significant as it could undercut the entire
debate over denying Communion to pro-abortion politicians. An excommunicated
Catholic may not receive any of the sacraments of the Church, including the
Eucharist, marriage, and even Christian burial. The type of excommunication
outlined in the new information is called latae sententiae, which means that
it occurs automatically and does not require a formal pronouncement by any
Church official.

Try not to die laughing, but I can see it now.

An environmentally-friendly Republican arguing that homosexual marriages harm society
because they make folks want to redecorate -- and possibly paint -- rooms. And you just
know that some paints have those rumored "Volatile Organic Compounds" that harm the ozone...

Then again, I could be high. An environmentally-friendly Republican?!?

"Let's agree with the opponents today, just for the moment, and say that homosexuality is
a choice. Well, one may also consider religion a choice. In the last millennium, Jews were
told, 'Being Jewish is a choice. Become a Christian and we won't kill you. Go kneel -- Go
kiss the cross,' but they would not. Why? Because the way we choose to love the divine is
part of our very essence, part of who we are. Just as who we choose to love is part of our
very essence, our humanness."

"Mutty" is more than a last name, it's a descriptive term it seems. LOL!

And the Thought of the Moment (TM) is:

"Life" insurance was a death benefit payable to the survivors of the insuree, so that they
might exist despite the loss of income brought about by the person's demise.

"Death" insurance was the opposite. In this age it was possible -- and, indeed,
commercially feasible -- to reanimate the dead. The insuree was by this policy guaranteed
the right to stay dead, in whole or in part, once his mortal term was over. The certainty
of death had become one of humanity's most important rights. DIA would spare no expense,
up to the face value of the policy, to see that no insuree lived again against his will.

Absolutely none. The Church position remains known re obvious wrongs for
humans to do. These include queer sex, civil contracts of queers, and abortion,
artificial birth control, etc.

They know I'm repeating their position. Never have I seen the church tell us

The bishop has no way of knowing how a parishioner voted. The ballot box is a
secret action.

Gee, you guys are reaching out for the most stupid of excuses.

Which did not stop him in making the threat, thereby coercing his
parish, thereby meddling in politics, and the political process.

We don't need wingnuts when we have your family willing

a few of your crappy artifacts and pay off the lawyers.
Will you be happy then?

Many older churches were closed because the parishoners moved
away to the suburbs. Those poor folks who couldn't move didn't pay
for the upkeep of their churches so they had to close.

Liar. Whenever you have more than one person in a room, politics
exists. Even among ape colonies, there exists poltics. An alpha male
will always lead, and the lesser males will vie for favor. Politics
is man's oldest institution.

That is what Cardinal Benard Law referred to in court as the "letter
of silence", which directed the church hierarchy to remain silent on
issues of pedophile priests, and interpreted, and rightly so, as an
institutionalized cover-up of pedophile priests.

So, if anyone was "making it up", it was one of your Cardinals. The
name stuck in the media.

LOL! I suppose that's why they had to close 10 Catholic Churches and
1 Catholic School in the Detroit area after the Church enabled
pedophile priest ring was finally caught. Everyone was just falling
all over themselves giving the Church jewels, land, art, etc..

The man stands directly opposed to the teachings of his Lord. He did it

beliefs, not his politics.

He can recover with a good confession and a promise to avoid repeating the sad
