right-to-life/>

So, it looks like El Salvador is going to go ahead and murder-through-
neglect a 22-year-old woman who needs an abortion to live. I wish I
could say I was surprised, but I’m not. The only way this is surprising
is if you believe that “pro-life” policies have anything to do with
life. This was entirely predictable, if you correctly believe that
opposition to abortion is rooted in a belief that women should give
birth whether they like it or not—or die trying. This woman is a human
sacrifice made by the government of El Salvador to demonstrate their
fealty to the belief that women are subhuman baby factories who don’t
deserve rights.

The woman in question, who is being called Beatriz by the press, is
suffering from lupus and kidney disease that will likely kill her if she
gives birth, and her fetus doesn’t have a brain, meaning that it will
not survive if brought to term. If/when she passes, she will leave
behind a young son and a husband.

When I say “human sacrifice”, I am not exaggerating. The Catholic Church
has responded to the surge of feminist energy around the world in no
small part by doubling down on their denunciations of contraception and
abortion, and making it clear that women should put being subservient
baby-makers over every other consideration, even their own basic
survival. In fact, there’s a lot of romanticizing of women who die in
childbirth, to the point where it’s treated like it’s the most awesome
thing you can do as a woman. At least one woman I know of has been
sainted for dying rather than choosing abortion, and anti-choicers
frequently spread slobberingly worshipful propaganda exalting death in
childbirth as the best thing that ever happened. (Here’s a typical
example.) The misogynist longing for female death isn’t even really
subtextual at this point, but right there on the surface. And if you
won’t choose death, well, they’ll choose it for you.

All of this is why it’s really just so, so disingenuous for a bunch of
death eaters like the hardcore Catholics to claim that pro-choicers are
pushing a “culture of death”. Nothing is more pro-life than the belief
that women’s lives matter, independent of their fertility. Anti-choicers
in the U.S. know that pushing for these really hardcore policies that
ban abortions with no exceptions exposes how anti-life they actually
are, so they usually don’t go this far, but don’t be fooled. Bans on
abortion for the health of the mother might as well be bans on abortion
in the case of the mother’s life. Cases like Beatriz’s, where the chance
of death is near 100% if she gives birth, are pretty rare. Doctors will
generally be reluctant to push for legal abortions in cases where the
chance of death is more like 50% or 75%. Plus, if women are granted
life-saving abortions in some cases, such eclampsia, they regain their
health pretty quickly right after the abortion, giving misogynist
prosecutors leverage to say that she wasn’t “really” sick and
prosecuting the doctors and their patients anyway.

Anti-choice politics are always about the sacrificing of women’s lives.
They start with sacrificing women’s ability to live their lives freely,
and eventually move on to terminating women’s right to have those lives
at all. This is but one really egregious example.

Organized religion has become a poison that corrupts everything it
touches. Anything that once might have been good about it, has long
faded into ugliness.

• The Jan 2002 altar-boy scandal confirms that this has been the case
with RCism for many decades or quite possibly centuries. .

What it really confirms is that the problem has existed for all times past for
the human male species. The priest problem (men) is no more a problem than the
general male population of the world.

They why has the RCC worked so hard to purge itself of the moderating
influence of women? Was it simply because they could? Was it greed at
the wealth religion brings in? Or a simple hate for the female gender?

the way we men run things let the women start their own church and make
their own rules.

Nope, so the studies reflect. Pedophilia is no worst in the RCC than in the
general public. I know how much you hate the truth, but that's life.

Either way, priests are our spiritual guides. They don't whip us into shape.
They teach and fulfill our hunger for the Word of God.

This is a common theme among our theists. If someone else did something
bad, then it's no so bad that they did the same bad. We have one who
insists that having a secretarial service edit and type his "reports"
(edit as in correct mistakes AND add "3-dollar words" to make it sound
more like he was educated) was not cheating and besides there are all
these services where you can buy papers and, hey, MLK cheated, too.

And they don't understand why people get peeved at them when they
protest.

Men are the problem now? What happened to "woe-man" being the problem?

Priests are supposed to have higher responsibility. They're supposed to be
closer to God.
Obviously its a lie.
If men are the problem then why are all priests men?

You and Pat are so clueless its beyond a joke.

Why do priests go to theological colleges and seminaries for training?
Just to be good 'spiritual guides'?
Why do they need to be ordained in a big church ritual?
Just to be good 'spiritual guides'?
Can any spiritual guide hear confessions?

it's time to call a spade a spade, then call it a spade. Immature kids act the
way you've been acting lately.

*** I see them as ignorant and arrogant, however, I also see them as
misfortunate to be born into the church that has The most clever, refined
and tweaked inculcation system on this planet. Their systen is so
effective that in the 5th Century they had to remove an element that was
producing a serious neurosis in inculcatees. This element is
called"discipling".

Huh?
Do you consider the Bible to be doctrine?

Why do you claim that Catholic priests are supposed to be closer to
God? Where will I find any doctrine that claims that priests are
supposed to have "a higher responsibility?"

Who makes this "clain?"
Can you point it out in Catholic teaching or doctrine?
Of course you can't.

No, I really want to hear facts.
You keep making all these "claims."
Yet, you can't back any of them up.

Let me help you.
Just because you THINK that Catholics place all priests on a pedestal,
this doesn't mean that it is true. You have a warped view of
Catholics. Stop whining about something you are clueless about.
