Catholic women don't do much better then Mormon women.

It is a battle, sisters, but we can overcome!

The article does not show that. The Vatican is not even mentioned in
the recounting of 19th century events. The closing paragraph is a
classic "switch" as in "bait-and-switch." And of course, Butler makes
no case, none whatsoever, for the present day reproaches being
"unjust" as she arbitrarily claims.

Those "nuns" of the 19th century whom the article lifts up as heroes
were a far cry from the ones the Vatican is reprimanding for their
hypocritical behavior; they were more like the sisters in the order of
Mother Teresa of Calcutta and other sisters who really carry on what
they believe to be God's work, as opposed to the radically secular
aims of the "nuns" that the article wants you to champion.

Those "nuns" belong to dying orders, the average age being around 70:

I contributed a comment about two "nuns" who, if they hadn't been such

"misogynist," according to the likes of R. L. Measures, may include
any pro-life woman, such as the woman in the film "October Baby" who
volunteered for a crisis pregnancy center, and her real-life
counterparts.

I'm not sure about R.L. Measures, mind you, but W.T.S. will probably
agree wholeheartedly.

Good to see you on this thread, duke, but you should really contribute
more than just a cute one-liner. Take a look at the post I did just
now, and also take a look at the following urls:

http://catholicexchange.com/rosa-delauro-cns-and-the-disoriented-catholic-lef/

Geniuses that change history -- only a few to a generation:
http://catholicexchange.com/killing-the-genuises/

Neither is directly related to the article, but I think you'll still
enjoy reading them.

By the way, if you haven't seen "October Baby" yet, you should while
it's still in the theaters. It's a great film. Don't be fooled by
the first half -- the second half is so different, it will blow you
away.

Note to others: I don't expect most of the regulars of the various
newsgroups, except maybe alt.religion.christian.roman-catholic, to
agree with my assessment of "October Baby". In fact, I think W.T.S.
would puke if he saw it, and you'd have to pay him to watch it.

Of course, Planned Parenthood might just decide to pay him to view it
just so he could post a pack of lies about it.

So did your god tell you today's nuns don't carry out what they believe
to be some god's work, or did you just make that up?

In any event it appears that the search for The One True Nun is on.

A True Nun wears a wedding ring even if she is getting none.

Two nuns riding bicycles back to a convent in Germany decide to take a
different road and it turns out to be rough.

The younger nun says, "I've never come this way before."
The older nun says, "It's the cobblestones."

That is a perfect description of the people responsible for forced
sterilizations and forced abortions in Linyi, that "dissident" Chen
Guranjeng has exposed so thoroughly, and probably also for the central
government authorities in Beijing who turned a blind eye to it.

Here is a lengthy expose [it may take a while to download]:

Keegan snipped all of the above except one url, then added
talk.abortion because that newsgroup is his playground.

I have nicknamed talk.abortion "The Usenet Newsgroup from Hell," and
Keegan and his henchmen and henchwomen have made it that.

It couldn't have happened without Keegan's Ultimate Toady, Spartakus,
and now that Spartakus is on an indefinite absence, it will be
interesting to see whether Keegan can uphold the appropriateness of
that nickname.

For someone whom some fools still take for a normal adult, isn't it
silly for you to claim that the source "cannot be believed without
independent verification" without the slightest smidgin of evidence
for this claim?

Neither. A great many nuns of today *do* carry out that work, as you
can see from the whole paragraph you left in.

> In any event it appears that the search for The One True Nun is on.

If you are going to clown around like this, why not revive the style
of "drieux", a regular of the abortion newsgroups in the early 90's?

He would have written TheOneTrueNun without any spacing.

> A True Nun wears a wedding ring even if she is getting none.

I don't know whether the sisters of the order founded by Mother
Teresa, and other tradition-minded sisters still adhere to that
particular custom. I suspect the one's in Mother Teresa's order do
not.

Not a bad joke, once you get it. But "younger nun" should probably
read "postulant" since I believe postulants are exposed to the life
they are going to lead. It's a testing period, and postulants are
free to quit anytime without any legitimate criticism for that choice.
