Hiya...anyone know when the Win95 Open GL drivers will be available
for the G200? I've emailed Matrox but to no reply...and NT refuses to
install on my machine. Sigh.

And anybody know some good sites for free maps and matlibs? I'm
getting bored with the standard ones, there's only so much you can do
with a brick texture ;-)

And yes, in reply to someone who said on one of these lists 'why don't
you make your own!', well as a professional graphic designer I have,
but I have a suggestion to such people:

* you DON'T need to buy CD's do you?, you can MAKE your own!
* you DON'T need to buy clothes, you can MAKE your own!
* why should you POSSIBLY want to BUY software when you can WRITE your
own?!!
* and WOWOW should you want to BUY alcohol when you could distil your
own using meths, potatoes and an old boiler?!?!!! :-P <grin>

etc...the answer is that I don't have time for that sh*t, I've got
much better things to do and if someone has created something similar
and has very kindly made it available for everyone to use then I'll
use that, (more credit & respect to them)...why replicate?

On another tangent I do find these posts about 'warez' quite funny
though as most graphic artists I know infringe copyrights in many
other ways, from using/abusing/altering/collaging photographs,
illegally copying images & adapting designs, copying fonts, using 3d
meshes, fonts & images from Star Wars/Trek/Babylon 5 that infrige the
original designer's rights, overrunning shareware (ok how many of you
have registered Winzip or PSP pro? huh?) and ripping off other
artist's styles (making a homage!).

Much of it though is called 'progress' or 'development of ideas' or
'post modernism' (unless the people you've 'sampled' get upset and
have a bigger lawyer/$$$ than you then it's called bad! :-)

So I don't see how software piracy has suddenly gained the moral high
ground over those issues....just a thought.

hugs to the list,
tbc

P.S. Any "cute" replies to this post (like the ones I've read on here
mistreating newbies or warez ppl) or flames will get same. I'm a
vengeful evil bastard when pushed... but otherwise, have a nice day
:-)

Check out www.matroxusers.com for info on G200 - Drivers due to be released
by end of November, but personally I'm not holding my breath. This site
will be first to tell you.

Erm... Wiro. I don't want to get into this on this NG really but I feel I
must point out that after moaning at me for including the previous message
you go right ahead and issue a second post including the preceding (I think
that's the word you were attempting to spell) message.

Now, OK I accept your point but I suggest you practise what you preach. At
least my message included useful information in an attempt to help someone
else (I've had a lot of help from this group in the past). Quickly scanning
the NG I notice that you have helped exactly erm..... No-one. So point
taken now put your dummy back in and shut up - what's it to you anyway.
It's not as if you had to re-read the original message. It's not as if it
takes like an hour to download or anything. It's not as if my message was
after the original it was at the top.

Appologies to poster of original message, but I did attempt to help I just
felt the need to retaliate to this.

If that's the sum total of your helpful input to this group then you're
wasting telecom time and space. If it wasn't for messages like this the net
would be a faster and more pleasing place to be.

Thank you and good night

Very true indeed. I was in a hurry and right after pressing the "send"
button I noticed I had forgotten to delete the rest of the text. I really
appologize for this. Mondo mistake.

Now wait a sec there...I never meant to flame you. It was a simple short
reply and a small FRIENDLY reminder to you (that's what the smiley was for).
I never intended to step on your toes.
I simply thought that if everyone would do the same (I've seen alot of other
guys here doing it), we'd have a huge pile of repeating text and little new
info.
I do help people here. Not in the same scale as Smeggy, surely not. I posted
a pic of the Slave1 here a week ago. I got lots of mails concerning the
textures. I answered every single one of them, telling how I did them. I'm
thinking of making a tutorial around it too sometime. So don't come with any
dirt-throwing here, please.

Why "retaliate"? Did it really hurt you that much? Like I said, I'm sorry.
But you really do overreact.

If I posted a long message to a group concerning my point of view, I'd like
to see what other people think about it. I simply wanted to say the guy's
right, that I aggree and finito. I didn't think I had anything to add since
I already posted a long message about this some weeks ago. Didn't want to
repeat myself.

You really think so? I spent weeks designing it. Well I at least you were
FRIENDLY enough to criticize it.
I hope you don't find any spelling mishtayks in my text. I mean, of course
this would never happen to you, right?

Oi! Don't you dare turn this thread into a flame war...I'm tired of
reading personal sh*t on the 3d & 3d.max newsgroups, please can
everybody on here check your ego in at the door and *calm down*...we
all make mistakes and we all had to start somewhere. At least no-one
is posting binaries or virus warnings to this list (yet! ;-)

Yes it is good ettiquette to <SNIP> from a post the parts that other
conversation cannot reach, but it's only a guide and not law...as long
as it isn't replying 'me too' to a reply to a reply that replies to
the total works of Tolstoy, I don't mind :-)

You both replied to my message and I was glad you both did. A gold
star to both of you...now scamper off now and go play with your
crayons ;-)
