Faulty CD Drive

Can anyone think why my CD drive would be not working, something that would
be less obvious, Ive tried it on all free Power leads from the power supply,
and on all IDE cables but the thing doesn't even have power. I really dont
want to buy a new one. BTW, i bought the PC off a m8 so i dont know whether
he had any problems with it
