Many years ago, and many thousands of pounds of coffee roasted ago, I
started this hobby with the Sweetmarias' stovetop popcorn popper. I
eventually owned my own roastery with a 12k Diedrich roaster.
Don't get discouraged if this particular method of roasting doesn't work
out for you. It isn't the easiest way to roast coffee, and there is
quite a bit of smoke. There are many relatively inexpensive ways to
roast coffee, including the air poppers mentioned in this post. My
current favorite is a bread machine/heat gun combo which is explained in
a number of youtube videos.
