We've decided to take the plunge and, once we finished the roasted coffee on hand in a few weeks, we will get the popcorn machine cum coffee roaster from Sweet Maria's and try our hand at it.  It's about time, as several of our friends (and several of you here) have said.

It's $27, and for another $11 you get 4 pounds of green beans, so that'll be what's up next here, but first we have 8-10 lbs. of coffee to go through.

Many years ago, and many thousands of pounds of coffee roasted ago, I
started this hobby with the Sweetmarias' stovetop popcorn popper. I
eventually owned my own roastery with a 12k Diedrich roaster.

Don't get discouraged if this particular method of roasting doesn't work
out for you. It isn't the easiest way to roast coffee, and there is
quite a bit of smoke. There are many relatively inexpensive ways to
roast coffee, including the air poppers mentioned in this post. My
current favorite is a bread machine/heat gun combo which is explained in
a number of youtube videos.

I just bid on a Popcorn Pumper, new. May still try the other one jut
because it's basically free with the sampler.
