Description:
The purpose of this group is to create a forum for anyone that owns, or is interested in the Alphagrip line of input devices. This company's first product, the AG-5, is a handheld replacement for the standard "flat" style keyboards, such as the classic QWERTY-style keyboard.

Linux keymapping: USBHOTKEY update
|
| |
Hello all,
I've spent a little time extending Lars Krueger's USBHOTKEY to
accomplish the same things that I used to do with AutoHotKey in
Windows. I use the AlphaGrip for gaming, and remap the T/N keys to be
L/R mouse buttons, since the AG5's existing mouse buttons are mutually
exclusive with the CYKL cluster that serves as my directional pad.... more »

Bluetooth AlphaGrip Prototype
|
| |
After a notable hiatus I have picked up the Bluetooth Alphagrip
project again. Last weekend I started building a programmer for the
Alphagrip, based on a Lattice MachXO2 breakout board. I added a
voltage pump then, using a bunch of capacitors and diodes. Today I
finished it off, adding serial communication and finally getting to... more »

Roller Ball Trouble
|
| |
Hi, I just got an Alpha Grip for by birthday on the 3rd of January,
and it seems that my roller ball has stopped functioning effectively.
When I move the ball, my cursor barely moves across the screen, and if
it does, it moves erratically. I really adore the Alpha Grip concept
and I'd really like to get to use it at it's full potential. Is there... more »

Alphagrip and Software Development

Anyone have experience using the alphagrip as a primary input device for programming? I use vim pretty much exclusively now-a-days, is there much talk about using the two together?

keymap in Xorg (GNU+Linux)
|
| |
Sorry to say I have not gotten much further with the bluetooth
prototype.
In the meantime, I thought to share a small tip for other non-US
grippers using Xorg:
To set the keymap for a specific, hotpluggable keyboard, enter a
section like this in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "AlphaGrip"... more »

Bluetooth AlphaGrip Prototype
|
| |
A new AlphaGripper, Yann, is attempting to build a prototype of a
Bluetooth-enabled AlphaGrip. He's been explaining his efforts in
emails to me. Here are some highlights:
Yann: I just had an alphagrip input device ordered. I am interested
in adding wireless capability to it, and thinking this would most... more »

Any key can fuction as left shift key?
|
| |
Hi everyone, I am happy with the alphagrip, but I still have a problem of IM, such as Chinese or Japanese input. To make these IMs functioning normally, it requires a normal left or right shift key as a toggle. However, none of the keys can function like that. I had already tried all the white, red, and green shift keys on grip.... more »

Cleaning the trackball
|
| |
I have one of the new optical alphagrips and I have cleaned it a few times but now I can't get the damn collar off from around the trackball. Where does that arrow need to point to get it off? If there is no corresponding marking to line it up with, why bother putting an arrow on there? -Matt

Newer Alphagrip modifier keys and arrow key position.
|
| |
Hi I was wondering, for anyone with the new optical AG's: do the
capslock, numlock and shift keys now send actual scancodes, or are
they still just hardware toggles?
I'm using the alphagrip on a mac, and wanted to remap the capslock key
to the Windows/Cmd key, since that's the button mac shortcuts work... more »

How many keypresses can it register at once?
|
| |
I'd played Crysis a lot with my alphagrip in may and it was working
great. Well summer semester just ended and I picked it back up again,
but had to remap everything because I had played with a regular mouse
in the meantime. I don't recall running into this problem in may, but
it seems it will only recognize two key presses at once? It this... more »
