Hi,

I use e-text editor and I cant figure out an easy way to do line
selections by doing SHIFT+UP or DOWN.... how can this be done? the
only way i can see me do it is if my right thumb holds down the red
shift key and my right index finger holds down the white shift key...
very weird handling.

How about first pressing the NumLock key and then pressing Shift + C (up) or
Shift + L (down).

What if i wanted to do CTRL + SHIFT + Arrow keys to do WORD
selections... this is something i use often and other coders as
there's no other way to do this. its not efficient to hold down the
shift+ arrow keys for multiple word selections.

thanks

I saw an early version of Hermann’s remap and it looks very good.  In the meantime you can try one of the remaps on our remap page, http://www.alphagrips.com/remaps.html, such as the Andersen remap, http://www.alphagrips.com/Andersen.html, or on our wiki, http://wiki.alphagrips.com/Remapping+for+Coders.

The AlphaGrip was not designed with coders in mind that's why most coding and power user key combinations are either very hard to do or sometimes even impossible. I've created a remap a few months ago thats allows ALL known key and mouse combinations, media keys and foreign characters very easily, but haven't had the time to post it yet. I hope to be able to post it soon.

I use it for all kinds of coding.  It's different.  I don't do things like shift+up.  I just you the trackball+mouse.  After all, it's right there under your thumbs.  Coding and typing with the alpha grip is significantly slower, even after using it regularly for over a year.  But what it lacks in speed, it more than makes up in comfort.

Coding in a recliner on a TV ftw.

For that matter, would I need to use one of the remappings to get a
BREAK key? I've had occasion to use it in the past to get runaway MS
Word macros to stop (not viruses, just regular routines that sometimes
get stuck in loops), and I just now have one on my laptop that's
eating the CPU that I'd love to use BREAK for -- but I guess for now
I'll just have to kill Word.

Cheers,

Here is something you might try:
Have both AlphaGrip and a regular keyboard hooked up. Use the regular
keyboard for special/irregular keys you can't easily do on AG. This
works great for a laptop that always has the keyboard hooked up.

Ok, then don't do it. Maybe you have a better suggestion.
