some physical addons

Here are some physical additions that have greatly improved my
ergonomic experience of the Alphagrip. Pics are enclosed.

First, I glued some homemade foam extensions to the finger keys.
These extensions act as levers, making it much easier (for me, at
least) to hit both sides of a finger key with minimal finger movement.
Pictures 903-905 successively show my finger poised over the d-e key,
then hitting the 'e', and finally hitting the 'd'. I was stunned by
how much more fun it was to type with these things attached.

Second, I screwed the AG-5 rubber base pieces to a wood stick and
added some soft foam pieces to both support and cushion my hands. Now
it rests comfortably in my lap and my hands can rest, relaxed, without
their having to support or steady the AG-5: the weight of my wrists on
the stick does this by itself.

Would you say that you have large, small, or medium-sized hands?

I don't have my Grip yet and am trying to gain some frame of reference
to work with. My hands are definitely smaller, but I'm not sure if
that would be a boon or a burden to my typing abilities. As Mike says
on the site, fringe sizes in either direction won't provide optimal
experience, but you'd think I'd be extra nimble and less encumbered.
On the flipside of that coin, of course, is the added strain: my
fingers may have to over-extend themselves to compensate if they're
*too* small.

Thanks for the photos. I see what you mean (re: my earlier post
"ergonomics") about finger movement. Without having the same blue foam
on the keys, it seems that I have found the same result favorable -
minimal movement of the (overly-large) finger keys. For my medium-large
(?) adult male hands, I think the unit is a little small and the keys
are a lot too big.

As for sending emails too early - seems a bit of a problem with gmail
and alphagrip. I sent a job app email prematurely the other day!

Are alphagrip engineers reading this group? It would be nice to have
some input in future designs.

feedback/requests, he's usually good at responding.

I had the same issue using a webmail client with the alphagrip -
premature emailation.

Alex, I have medium sized hands. It's hard to guess whether your small
hands will help or hinder - I did find mine a bit too large, yours may
fall on the keys better.

I assure you we will consider all of this group's suggestions when designing
the AG-6. Your objectives are our objectives, including maximum comfort and
minimum finger movement.
