Hi,
I've downloaded the latest Windows version and installed (along with
the Pocket PC bit ) it on to a dedicated PC as a Music Server running
XP with ITunes. It looks like the idea contoller software and want to
try before I buy. Trying to use a Dell Axim Pocket PC to connect to
the server but with no success. I've also tried connecting via my
laptop but again no success.
The music pc is hard wired to my router with the Pocket PC / my laptop
being wireless.
I've turned off the Windows Firewall and McAfee but still no success.
I can Ping the music server from the Pocket PC and visa versa.
I'm guessing that Signal Server is running on the Music Server as the
icon is present in the notification area and the window is present
listing the URL and 'Register' / 'Hide' buttons on the desktop.

Am I missing something simple ?

Any advice would be greatfully recieved

Sorry to hear you ran into trouble! There are a few connection
troubleshooting steps on the web site:

http://www.alloysoft.com/documentation/troubleshooting/connection-problems.html

If that doesn't help you can also check to see if Signal is reporting a
problem. To do that bring up the Signal settings window on your computer and
press Ctrl+Shift+D to open the debug log. If the program ran into any errors
they should be documented here. If you can copy and paste the contents of
the log into an email I can see if it offers any clues.

I have the same problem.

I have turned off my bullguard firewall and windows firewall.
I have checked many times that the ip and the port is correct in my
iphone Safari browser.
I also tried opening the ports in my router.
I checked everything on the connection problem page.

The Ctrl+Shift+D info is:

[21:09:36] Signal 1.2.3.3

Im running on Windows 7 64 bit.
Im not sure what more info to give. I really hope you can help out :)

Hi Henrik,

In your case I'm afraid there's not much else I can suggest. You can try accessing the web interface by entering http://localhost:3569 on the computer running the Signal server to make sure the application is working. If the interface appears then there must be something in the network that is blocking the connection, as Signal isn't detecting any problems in the log.

The only other thing I can think of is to double-check that the iPhone is connected to the correct wireless network and is not accidentally on another network in range.

Matt,
Sorry it's been so long for me to get back to you, I've been away.
Tried all the things in the trouble shooting guide - no luck
The Debug data is exactly as for henrik25 issue below.
Tried localhost:3569 and I get an iphone graphic and all the buttons
do what they imply (should it be an iphone graphic as I am trying to
set up a pocket pc?
This makes it look like there is some form of network error / security
stopping my pocket pc from connecting.
However, just to confuse things, I tried an old version of Remoteamp
(remoteamp20) that I found on the net and it sort of works although it
came up with a warning that it is designed for an earlier version of
pocker windows, my pocket pc connected straight away!!!
Any ideas?

Try entering the web URL into Pocket Internet Explorer, if it is able to connect you should see a page allowing you to install the PPC client over the air. The web interface detects the type of device connecting to display the right interface. If that works and you're connecting through the PPC client manually, just enter the IP (no http or :3569) into the connect field.

Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest. The sockets must be working if the web interface appears, and Signal doesn't seem to be detecting any errors either. I'm making some tweaks to the networking code to try and solve a problem another user is having, but in that case Signal is encountering errors when creating the sockets. If that issues gets sorted out it's possible that it could solve yours as well, but I really can't say why the device isn't able to establish a connection.

Matt,

Sorted it.

Absolutly nothing to do with Signal.

I tried using Signal on two other pc's in the house and both connected
and I was able to use the PPC & Signal to control iTunes with no
problem.
This basically confirmed that the issue was with my Music Server PC.
Eventually discovered, whilst comparing all the setting I could think
of, that I had Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 protocol installed along
side the normal Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the Wireless Network
Connections options, which must have causing a conflict, stopping the
PPC from connecting correctly.
I removed Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 protocol and my PPC was able to
connect with no problem.
Will now let the wife try it all out and then get a license. :)

Glad to hear it's working! I'll look into the IPv6 issue - hopefully I can make a tweak so that won't be a problem in the future.
