A lot of LinkedIn Groups are simply groups that exist elsewhere, e.g.,
on facebook, Meetup, etc. that want people to be able to join from LinkedIn and display a group badge. It's part communication tool, part publicity, part alliance forming, part personal identity. It'd be great to make it more obvious how a LinkedIn group could tie into Meetup alliance.
