OFFICIAL NOTICE OF SCHEDULE FOR TEMPORARY
APPOINTMENT OF AT-LARGE COUNCILMEMBER
In accordance with Article [DC Code, Section 1-204.02] the membership of the District of Columbia Democratic State Committee (DCDSC) will “appoint a qualified elector affiliated with…” the Democratic Party to fill the vacancy on the Council due to the election of Kwame Brown as Chairman of the Council. The appointment is temporary pending the outcome of a Special Election to be held by the DC Board of Elections and Ethics within 114 days, or as established by Law. The candidate who receives 50% plus one (1) vote of the DCDSC members present and voting will be seated to serve pending the outcome of the Special Election.
· Interested candidates must meet the following requirements to be placed in consideration.
1. MUST have legally resided in the District of Columbia for one (1) year preceding the scheduled appointment.
2. MUST be registered as a Democrat with the DC Office of the Board of Elections and Ethics by January 5, 2010.
3. MUST circulate and return nominating petitions with a minimum of 1000 valid signatures of registered democrats in the District of Columbia, including at least 100 per Ward and no less than 27 signatures of current DCDSC members.
4. Nominating petitions MUST be accompanied by a Statement of Qualifications and a Biographical Sketch (150 words or less each) as prescribed by the DCDSC.
5. Interested candidates MUST complete a “Declaration of Candidacy” Form at the time of filing their petitions.

Monday, November 8, 2010 Public Notice - Nominating petitions become available for circulation.
To obtain petitions candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy at 305 K Street, SE- Monday-Friday (10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) (3 blocks from Navy Yard metro) Questions or
Tuesday, November 16, 2010 Last Day to receive Petitions
Monday, December 6, 2010 Deadline for submission of completed nominating petitions and a detailed Bio/Statement of Qualification (150 words or less).
Note: All Documents must be filed. November 18, 2010 is the first day candidates may file petitions (the required minimum) at 305 K Street, SE- 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, December 7, 2010 Official challenge period begins for seven (7) days 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. 305 K Street, SE (3 blocks from Navy Yard metro)
Tuesday, December 14, 2010 Close of challenge period (305 K Street, SE- 6:00 PM) List of Preliminarily Qualified Candidates made available.
