Hi All,
We are working on workflows for alfresco and noticed that the out of the box allows for any user to submit any workflow (A user could upload a photograph and start a Contract approval workflow). We would like to limit the workflow to the aspect associated with the file. The use case would be a User can only start a Contract approval workflow if it has an aspect of Contract in the Contract folder. The document should have a document action that says Start Workflow and it would know to start the Contract approval workflow and auto start it, or send them to a form to fill out information.  What is the best practice to be able to accomplish this?

Thanks

I think it can be done by removing the workflow you want to restrict from the list in the Share UI, and then creating an action for executing the workflow that displays when the content has the relevant aspect.

There is a list of restricted workflows in web-extension/share-config.xml. Override it with share-config-custom.xml.

A good tutorial on actions is available in Jeff's Alfresco Developer Series:

Good luck,

Richard
