Does Alchemy Support Versions, workflow, tags, search - i.e., stuff outside of content but not layout

Im reading about Alchemy. I sort of understand the content storage and push
that into a pre-made layout (made by a developer).
But I cannot tell if it has support for all the stuff that "surrounds"
content management - like versions of content, workflow (where you pass
content through people before its published), tags and search?

Sorting pages on larger sites and unicorn

Hi!
When sorting pages on larger sites using unicorn, after 31 anything seconds
the request times out with
502 Proxy Error
I know that unicorn kills requests that takes longer than 30 seconds to
finish.
And of course I could set the threshold to a higher value but I think in
this case we should think about the way page sorting is handled in general.

Integration tests and login

Hi all,
while updating an app to alchemy 2.5 I figured out, that it is quite hard
to integration test custom backend modules due to the login process:
In my integration test I want to follow the normal process: go to 'admin',
fill in the form, submit it.
By using ids for the fields I can make it to the click_on step...

For some reason alchemy/alchemy.js was not compiled
I added this to production.rb

Named routes in Alchemy modules

Hi!
I've got some problems with named routes in the Alchemy CMS. I was hoping
that you guys maybe know why it's happening and what I can do about it.
I created an Alchemy module named products. In the toolbar view of the
module I would like to use named routes to link to products#new. The view

My team needs to improve the version handling a bit for our client. We need
to have a persistent storage of both the current public version and of
saved but not published version. As I understand the current situation,
when I press "Save" the existing version is replaced by the new version in
the db and when I press "Publish" the (in memory) cached existing version

Changes to EssencePicture view partial

I made changes to the essence_picture view partial in current master branch.

If an image has a caption it now has following HTML 5 markup:

<figure>
<img src="yadayada"">
<figcaption>Image caption</figcaption>
</figure>

If no caption is used the markup stays the same.

is it somehow possible to get only the contents of a page, without all the
html tree, except of what's inside the body tag? I mean without too much

Hi I just followed the instructions at [link]
and created an alchemy site using the rails engine method (I created a
generic rails app first). I chose english as the language for my
first user but I only get German as a choice of language and the app
complains the english tree is missing.

After testing other CMS I found that Alchemy has all the feature I
need to proceed with my multi-subdomain project, however I still have
one issue regarding Role Management.

My project already use the gem Rolify, giving a user multi-roles
capabilities globally or on specific classes.
I guess : Devise + CanCan + Rolify is one of the best authentication-

I tried to get resource_relations to work. Setup:

event belongs_to location.
In my config.yml I have:

When I start my server and go to events I get:

Autogenerate Elements in Cells

Is it me? Do I miss something?
If I put an element in autogenerate, that is listed in a cell, it's
nonetheless created in main_content. Is there a way around that?
Another question: Can I have an element both in a cell and in main_content??

Hey there,
I want to implement a link list, very easy: a headline and a bunch of
text-links in an unordered list.
My thoughts so far: element names link_list, essenceText 'headline' and
essenceText 'link'.
It should be possible to make the link :linkable, at least it is mentioned

I am just experimenting at present.
I am impressed by the potential I can see with this system.
I have been using Radiant which is good but not on Rails 3 yet.
I have a Spree shop set up and used the 'alchemy_spree' gem.

We gave in. Soft-Tabs won the indentation war :)
So we changed the indentation of all source code files to 2 spaces.

We recently changed our branch workflow.
1. The master is the new development branch for the next stable release
version (2.2 as time of writing).
2. The current stable releases has their own branches (2.1-stable for
current stable version 2.1.7).
3. Use these branches for patch releases (2.1.x).

I would like to use RedCloth or any other Formater for Textile.
Since I'm transforming a Radiant CMS, which allowed my client to use
Textile I wouldn't like to change it for some sites.

So far I know It is not stable yet and not installable via rubygems.org.
Since I have very simple websites I wanted to switch from Redmine to
Alchemy Cms, I wonder if I really would have so much trouble with the
current version at master/head.

Let's see that we write code that is usable with rails 3 and rails 3.1.
Also with Ruby == 1.8.7 and Ruby >= 1.9.2
Especially the assets will be a problem. Let's see how we can achieve this.

I just updated the next_stable branch.
I split the AlchemyHelper into several contexts (Pages, Elements, Essences).
And I fixed a loooooot of bugs while refactoring.
Unbelievable how many bugs appears if you do unit testing :)
Alchemy has now 80 Specs!!
So please test this branch in your Sites and write tests if something is failing.

Hi!

I just wanted to notice, that the install script (alchemy_cms-2.0.rc3)
installs a rails 3.1-project.
Generally I think it's good to move on to rails 3.1, but with alchemy
it has some side-effects. The asset-management breaks for example.

Is your first Rails 3 stable intended to be rails 3.1 or 3.0.9?

custom modules (creating and integration)

I'm wondering if there is any documentation about custom modules?!
I've already downloaded alchemy_mailing and installed as a plugin in,
but integration still fails.

Perhaps some can write a little guide on how to integrate modules?

Is there something like a scaffold for a new module?
