Hello Everyone

Hello folks,

I'd like to start out by thanking Commander Norm Olsen for allowing me access to this group.  I am moving to Alaska in September to work the the Department of Natural Resources and am very excited to become a fully functioning member of the Alaska Citizens Militia.  

Just to introduce myself a little bit; My name is Mike Weinmann, and I am currently a college Senior at SUNY Cortland in Cortland NY.  I am 22 years of age, and will be receiving my degree in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management.  I have intermediate survival skills and have been prepping for only about two years now.  I also grew up on a dairy/beef farm and have lots of experience with heavy machinery (Maintenance and operation), as well as crop and animal domestication.  

As for any formal combat skills, for now I will just say they are minimal.  I have had intermittent training sessions with ex-military and current military members in my local community, but nothing substantial as any para-military training is absolutely illegal in NY.  I do however consider myself somewhat of a decent shooter.  I used to compete in high school in the NYS Sporter Rifle Hudson Valley League (now the Ten-X League) and won a few awards through out my time there.  I have an intermediate amount of training at long range shooting (up to 800 yards) and would gladly take any training advice on that subject from any of you with experience! (I truly enjoy distance shooting)

I would like to note that I am extremely excited to see some of the posts in this group.  The attention to detail about the goings on of the "administration" in our nation is phenomenal.  I have never lived anywhere but NY, and I have to say that any talk of "the government is going to screw us" is met with great scrutiny and often causes deep hatred from those who disagree with any sentiment other than "praise Obama".  It is a very nice breath of fresh air to see that their is such a large group that are willing to see through the lies and deception (of any party or politician).  

In closing, I would like you all to know that I plan on becoming a fully functioning and contributing member once I have officially moved to Alaska (at Commander Olsen's discretion) and look forward to meeting with you all and learning from you as well.  I will be lurking around this group, and if any of you have any initial advice about anything for me, please feel free to post it here or email me or anything!  I'm sure I will have follow up questions, and hope to learn about the process and goings on of an organized militia.

As an 'old fogie', it makes my heart more at peace to see and hear of so many young adults who see through the lies and hypocrisy and long to know the truth! You are our leaders of tomorrow!

As Alaska is just a tad bit larger than New York, do you know where in the state you will be located? If you have been following posts on this site, you may have noticed there are several groups located throughout the state. There is probably a militia group pretty much anywhere close to where you will be...buuuut maybe not!

Welcome Mike. You should fit right in "The Great Land". I am playing  catchup here as I was working and out of cell service except for a half day in Prudhoe Bay while I made a few deliveries.

I am in the Fairbanks area but spend way too much time living in a Kenworth between Fairbanls and Prudhoe. Thank you for getting in touch.
