James, You are correct the militia can maintain safety and security in time of need. If we do not discuss what to develop next, what will become of the people. Will we only follow the militia leadership that fed and protected us? Will we end up with what we fear the most, a totalitarian government under the authority of the militia. I believe we can do better if we flesh out our principles and values now. In 1776 Adam Smith wrote the book “The Wealth of the Nations.” Our economic system was based on his understanding with some updates. He stated man is driven by his own self interest.  We are driven for those “necessaries, conveniencies and amusements of human life” He believed a successful economic system should freely allow man to pursue these endeavors.  It is unchecked free trade capitalism that led to the current economic failure. Capitalism left unchecked leads to Fascism. What Adam Smith did not understand was the sinful nature of man. In the Ideal Capitalist system mans self interest brings productivity to its maximum. I should hope that the militia is not involved with establishing any form of government moral or otherwise It is the purpose of the militia to defend the people and the state. I believe our job is to be shooters, elected politicians get to deal with the government establishment portion of the pie.

Thank you, thank you.    You have "broken the code" that so many others cease to understand.   We are there to be teachers, and to help prepare our society for the coming collapse, and how to endure through the hard times, AND how to establish an economic/social system on the other side.   People say we are nuts because we believe that an economic/social collapse is coming...   I believe the refusal to see what is coming is the main factor in refusing to consider what we are trying to teach and warn against.     As with the life guard at the swimming area, it is not until the swimmer acknowledges that he/she is in trouble will the swimmer surrender to the life guard.  In other words, the swimmer must know he/she needs help before he/she will trust the lifeguard.   So it is with what is coming.     A terrible social/economic collapse is coming at us quickly.   The entire country will begin to die slowly.  It will not be like an earthquake or volcano or natural disaster.  It will be the support systems' collapse that will create a time where we will all begin to die slowly.    Hyper-inflation will begin, goods and services will be out of reach.  Income will not be able to keep up with costs.   Unemployment will  reach 15-30 percent.   People will be selling their personal goods just to stay alive.    People will abandon their homes because they cannot pay the mortgage...   And it will be 100 times more terrible than this!!!   The anarchy that will follow will result  in roving gangs of killers bent on taking what they can without regard for human life.   There will never be enough government troops to quell the riots and the mauraders who will travel over the land killing, raping, pillaging, and stealing whatever they want.   Laugh if you want.   Prepare if you are wise.    Avoid us if you dare. I say that is not to be construed as the purpose and mission of a "militia".   if you want to go around with guns telling people how they ought to think and behave as opposed to protecting them from physical harm count me out   if this is your intented purpose I dont think you should be doing it disguised as a citizens militia.   because it seems to me to fit the definition of an armed political action commitee.   And also if this is your intention you will fail miserably.   good luck anyway as I think your heart is in the right place but your intentions seem misguided to me.

Bill, This is one of the areas George and I agree on. The militia see themselves as shooters. Some believe we can blindly follow a militia leader. Many militias around the world followed a leader without understanding principles and values. Russia and Cuba are examples.  I believe we must follow principle and values we can all agree on.    A few years ago I read the book "Lives of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence." Many of the signers came from the Militia leadership from the several States. They were more than shooters; they stood on principles and values together.   Now, if we follow a charismatic militia leader, I am afraid George's fear will be realized.   I would like some dialog.

In 1776 Adam Smith wrote the book “The Wealth of the Nations.” Our economic system was based on his understanding with some updates. He stated man is driven by his own self interest.  We are driven for those “necessaries, conveniencies and amusements of human life” He believed a successful economic system should freely allow man to pursue these endeavors.  It is unchecked free trade capitalism that led to the current economic failure. Capitalism left unchecked leads to Fascism. What Adam Smith did not understand was the sinful nature of man. In the Ideal Capitalist system mans self interest brings productivity to its maximum. If it is left unchecked, the sinful nature of man takes this driven influence to a level of destroying the liberty of others.

I am looking for comments on this issue

James, That is the point. What do we believe collectively? George asked to what authority we submit to. I said we submitted to the authority of the people. If we do not have dialog on our principles and values, we will find ourselves fighting each other and adding to the anarchy or tyranny. One militia will want to disarm another. Our government will want to disarm the people. Isn't that what frightens us now.   Ray

You are correct.   While members of the militia are urged to vote and stay informed, it is not the intent of the militia to become a special political action group.     Because of the attitude of Americans, any mention of militia in the rhetoric of a candidate or sitting representative is to commit political suicide.     The American people are easily beguiled.  They are more frightened of the citizen soldier than they are of the tyrannical government.   Norm       -------Original Message-------

Norm, what you have just written is an absolute bullseye and is
incredibly full the truth, What you have written, silences the debate
that has roiled through this site. After reading Pikof's "Ominous
Parallels", I fully understood and could visualize the coming level of
Fascism Americans are are now receiving, and will be receiving though a
much fuller measure of, from Washington DC. Thank you for what you

I have followed this thread and I've come to think that it is you who
are mistaken about the direction or goals of this very new group. You
have blasted in with smoke and mirrors and fear or phobia, but mainly
with the "Big Picture" in mind, and examples of a "you will comply
mentality". It did create quite a whirlwind of reaction with tips of
sites to visit and Laws/Treaties to be discussed. We see and understand
what you are writing about, but at this point, it's truly "keep it
simple, stupid!", this is a begining, I think, working to form as the
Minutemen did. Actions necessary as stated in the Declaration of
Independence and codified by the Bill of Rights. We must honor our
contract, keep our word, prepare to protect our rights including the
future of our family, friends and community, and it's organizing on the
same foundations as those who set their hats on being free men.
Remember James, the King could have negotiated upon receipt of the
Declaration, but he sent instead, War. Remember the context and where
it's written, that "it is our right, it is out duty to throw off" what
was described as tyranny and oppression. I want to be ready for the
fall, for fall it's going to do. I want my neighbor to be secure and my
home to be safe, and the fix for that is a Government of by and for the
people, protected again from tyranny and oppression. I don't want to
start a fight, but I'd like to deliver a Declaration of No Dependence to
the National Congress, and the perceived leadership of the United
States, no matter how they fixed their elections. I believe in changing
government by peaceful lawful means, so what has been written here
advising work to elect the right candidates is good advise. I believe
most of us have been doing just that for many years, through many
elections. I also believe we recognize that it's not working. I think
we will continue to assist a candidate but also while "reading the
handwriting on the wall", we would prefer a "Minuteman" to FEMA. And
James, I'm one of those who "go around with guns". I am not "disguised
as a citizens militia". I am armed for my protection, as is my right.
By wearing it, I am also educating without saying a word. I am
exemplifying that it is not only the police, the military or the "bad
guys" that are "carrying". I was in Home Depot the other day and I was
asked if I was in law enforcement because of my gun. I responded no,
and "only if I have too." I am not "the definition of an armed
political action committee", I'm a just citizen free to go about my
day. Get simple too, James. I think you have much to offer.

James:  This is a good start for goals and objectives of the militia.  The emphasis is on helping others to get through any bad times that could happen in the community rather than focusing on guns.  The guns are the means to assure the safety of our community.
