You snipped the context there, pal:

Exactly. I snipped everything except the part I wanted to draw your
attention to because I'd made the exact same point previously which
you said you understood, but apparently didn't because you repeated
the same mistake. If you'd rather I not point out your mistakes just
say so and I won't do it anymore.

No, I don't mind... but seriously I used the phrase that the House of
Heroes helps veterans "down on their luck", which is exactly what they
do.

Accuracy is important sometimes as well as a "positive spin".

How does calling someone 'down' on his luck reflect accuracy or give a
positive spin, Will? Down is a total downer. Nothing positive down
there. To say that someone is 'down' on their luck suggests that your
perspective is that of a loftier vantage point, like you're better
than them. I totally understand what you're trying to say. I've had
hard times before too, but I've never been 'down' on my luck, and I'd
take exception to anyone saying they had a better perception of me and
my good or bad fortune than I do. That's all.

Good points... but rather sit here giving "lip service" for thos
folks, I'm going onstage to spend some time and energy to actually
help 'em.

Talk to you later.

And have a Wobble on me:

LOL. Actually, onstage your time and energy are specifically devoted
to giving lip service, as in talking and singing. Here you help "em"
simply by writing about "em", and including "em" in, and as part of
your daily dialogue. You help "em" most by seeing "em" as equals, and
not look 'down' on "em" just because of hard times. They don't need or
want your pity. I know because I'm one of "em".

I'm good with that... anyway, the festival was a blast, and photos are
forthcoming.

Yeah? Well what if nobody here in this poetry group cares about your
irrelevancies?
Again, you promote yourself through your pictures. It's self service
not public service. You do what you do for the publicity it gets you,
and for how you can use your association with charitable causes to
promote your own selfish interests. You don't give a damn about Vets
because if you did I'd feel it. I'd feel your compassion and desire to
serve because I'm a Veteran and your efforts would ostensibly serve me
and those like me. I don't get that feeling at all from your
commentary, Will. You couldn't care less about me or Veterans causes.
You like me only to the extent that I make you look good. When I start
telling the truth or expressing my honest opinion and perspective, you
get all defensive and reactionary. You lash out at what you perceive
as offensive language. You snip text you don't want to face, and focus
on irrelevant minutia. That's the you I know now. If any of that is
delusion, please correct me.

Oh, is that what you want now? You want me to go away and leave your
poor ass alone now? Aw, isn't that cute.

No, I simply turned your clueless question back around on you, Corey.

You know that I can deal with your silly games, since I've come to expect
these pissy little mood swings of yours... you're very predictable.

I can even guess what's coming next from you, although I can't say I'm
looking forward to it.

LOL. You? A good guesser? Omg, that's just so funny. Thanks. I wan't
expecting that one. LOL.

More than a guess, but I'm watching the same old pattern repeating once
again.

This is one time I wouldn't mind being wrong.

The pattern is that you do a gig or show, then come back here to
Usenet all full of yourself like you actually performed some great
community service or something when in point of fact all of your
promotional efforts proved wholly ineffectual, and your band's
appearance was an afterthought, almost completely forgotten by the
event organizers. Is that what you meant when you said this is one
time you wouldn't mind being wrong?

You forgot to add "in my opinion" to that statement, Corey, since that's
really just another of your attempts to misrepresent me here.

Nope, didn't forget. Just the facts. Those are the obvious facts that
you've been demonstrating so well for us today, Will. Don't believe
me. Get yourself some perspective. Ask some people you trust to give
you honest, objective opinions, either here or there, and see what
kinds of responses you get. I'm happy to admit when I'm shown wrong,
so show me wrong, okay? Show me you're not just acting all full of
yourself.

Same here... in those times when I actually am wrong, of course.

Which isn't the case here, as any casual reader can see.
