Hello all -- It's great to be part of this community of experienced writers. I appreciate the wisdom and camaraderie flowing over the listserv... and I really need to stop lurking. So here is my intro.
I am an all-around business writer/ editor/ news analyst. I worked as an independent journalist in DC for about 12 years, mostly serving as the Washington correspondent for English-language magazines in foreign capitals, as well as writing for some local newsletters. I also edited or ghostwrote four books. Incidentally, I was a member of Washington Independent Writers all that time, tho not particularly active.
In 2004 I joined the corporate world when a client started a management consulting firm, Social Technologies, near Dupont Circle and persuaded me to come aboard as house editor. Later I took over as program manager for one of the company's research streams, shaping the work of 5-8 writers and setting direction for the research project. It was a great little company, with world-class content and the best colleagues ever, but unfortunately succumbed to the recession back in July.
Since then I've been freelancing again, and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying waking up late and the other perks of being independent. But I am definitely on the hunt for new opportunities.
I live in Charlottesville VA now, about 2.5 hours from DC. Are there any other AIW members here in central Virginia?
best regards,
Kristin Nauth
