v www.pcanorangecounty.com/ (PCAN) ~ PCAN is a collaborative one of a kind program providing much needed health care services to the underinsured in our community. PCAN recently received national recognition from Harvard’s Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation. We are fortunate to have many partners in the health care community on our team to provide these necessary services. While our nation’s leaders struggle with health care reform, I had the opportunity to tour our Primary Care Access Network (PCAN) with U.S. Senator George LeMieux. He was able to see first hand how this collaboration of government, private health care providers and faith-based organizations is a big success in Orange County . Sen. Lemieux called PCAN a “national model” that deserves consideration by Congress. Our discussion with local health care leaders and government representatives focused on four issues; continued support of the Federally Qualified Health Centers, enhancement of specialty care medical services, reimbursement to hospitals and physician compensation.

v WasteWise & Get Outdoors Florida !
Orange County Parks & Recreation Division recently joined the ranks of two prominent programs that will work to engage you, the community and our environment: the Environmental Protection Agency's voluntary WasteWise program and the Get Outdoors Florida ! Coalition.
The WasteWise program asks that we do what we can to prevent waste--use only the material needed to get the job done--then recycle what cannot be prevented, and buy recycled products. Although participation in the program is voluntary, we take our participation very seriously. Preventing waste in the first place has a positive impact on the environment and can save more money than recycling. Look for future changes in our daily operations that will make a difference, both to the environment and to our bottom line.
The Get Outdoors Florida ! Coalition is a union of public and private partners who realize an imperative need to reconnect communities, families and individuals with nature and to address health and societal issues in the face of unprecedented development. For more information about these programs, or how you may get involved, please contact Alicia Eidam at 407-836-6205.

Orange County Code Enforcement Division
“Working for a better Community”
3-1-1 or (407) 836-3111 ~ CodeEnf...@ocfl.net
In addition to use of the Code Enforcement Board, officers are empowered by State Statute and County Code to issue non-criminal citations. These citations, while requiring the defendant to appear in county court, are classified as civil infractions. A person receiving a citation may choose to pay a reduced civil penalty and avoid a court hearing, or request a hearing. However, a person found guilty at a hearing may be ordered to pay a full penalty amount, without reduction. Typically, citations are used as a last resort to correct violations which are on public property, such as illegal vendors or signage placed upon rights-of-way, but may be used for other code infractions on private property. Additionally, citations may be used for violations which are repeatedly created and corrected immediately prior to Code Enforcement Board hearings or where use of the Code Enforcement Board has not deterred the respondent from continuing the violation.
v Guest Speakers
If you would like a Code Enforcement Officer to attend your next neighborhood meeting and explain to residents what the local ordinances are for residential areas: like restrictions on parking recreational vehicles, limitations on boats parked in front of a house, no junk & debris permitted on the property, etc… Contact the Code Enforcement Division; please allow at least a two week advance notice so that a speaker can be scheduled.
