Notice of Funding Availability
v NONPROFIT HOUSING REPAIR GRANTS I & II ~ Nearly $150,000 is available for a limited time for housing repair projects and programs. Due to rising foreclosure rates and the current economic conditions, Orange County neighborhoods are threatened by physical decline. Funding is available to grassroots neighborhood groups, nonprofit agencies, and faith-based organizations in unincorporated Orange County as an opportunity to provide minor housing repairs (i.e. painting, landscaping, yard cleanup, etc…) to owner-occupied homes in neighborhoods located within the unincorporated areas of Orange County (owners must be able to demonstrate a financial need). Neighborhood Stabilization Program
v The Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) was created by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 to respond to rising residential foreclosures and property abandonment. The main purpose of the NSP is to stabilize neighborhoods negatively impacted by foreclosures. Orange County will use NSP funds to acquire, renovate, and sell foreclosed homes at affordable prices to eligible families. Qualified first time home buyers are eligible for up to $35,000 in down payment assistance. Use the link above to find out more.

He wants to drive home the message that during this historic event, it is essential that no one is left uncounted. v New Horticulture Workshops to be announce after the New Year! ~ Happy Holidays!
v Tree Adoption Program: Orange County Cooperative Extension hosts tree adoptions, free to all Orange County citizens. Along with the obvious advantages of shade and beauty, trees provide oxygen, filter, pollution, and create habitats for wildlife. Adding trees also replenish lost canopy due to storm damage, age, and development. And of course, pride of ownership, a sense of accomplishment and increased property value are added perks. December 12, 3:30 to 5pm ~ The traditional street parade will have a totally new look to go along with its’ new name called, “The Holiday Sidewalk Sashay.” The procession will circle Lake Eola Park on the inside walkways. Parade participants will ride on decorated golf carts, pedicabs or in four wagons instead of floats. The entries will be more interactive with the parade-goers as it showcases marching bands, mascots and family pets dressed in holiday attire. Free to the public. December 12, 5:30 to 8 pm ~ Since 1991, this hour Holiday TV Special has been produced in the streets of Downtown Orlando during the holidays. This year, the outdoor Walt Disney World Amphitheater at Lake Eola Park will glitter in lights during the two-hour nighttime production featuring celebrity singers & dancers from the world of entertainment.
