Carol,
Down south we have trappers and hunters
all the time.
I just bought a light rifle .17 Henry for
shooting hogs, no ear ringing noise.
I gave my grandson one lesson. It
will be many years before he is ready but based on my SFla experience the hogs
will be around.
The Spanish brought to North
America the first hogs estimated to be 500; they ran with the
Spaniards following the food trail. Also they brought disease thus being an
early bioweapon killing
millions of Indians across the Americas .
I was not able to read the other emails
but yours makes the point.
I heard City of WG has a hog posse; not certain. (Maybe volunteer?)
P.S. we never pay; hunters love the hunt
and meat. Also use traps. A kind of bonding thing you know. Sounds
like a business plan is developing for a charge---and too much meat to eat.
As for governmental efforts to eradicate, unlikely,
since they have never been eradicated in hundreds of years. There was no Tarp
money nor is there a predator in the Avalon area.

Subject: Fwd: Fw: Wild Pigs
There
have been wild pigs and yard damage recently around Lake Avalon .
The nuisance pigs show up after dark and literally plow up entire sections of
the yard in search of grubs, worms, etc.. Even though these are categorized as
feral pigs – the FWC, and Orange
County will not take any
action. So once again, we the homeowners, have to fend for ourselves. We have
hired (and paid) a trapping company (Trapline) to come out to our address to
help get rid of them. They claim for 2 weeks they will run dogs in our area,
followed by setting traps to help capture the pests. The pigs are mainly active
is during the night, so that is when the trappers will be running the dogs,
so don’t be surprised if you hear
them.
These
pigs are VERY destructive - they rooted up a 20’ X 80’ area
in less than 1 night, basically removing all of the recently installed (within
1 year) St. Augustine .
They have also rooted up an area along the lakeshore along the entire SW corner
of the lake.
We
could use help from all of our neighbors and the neighborhood to help get these
under control.
Sincerely,
Jeff
and Wendi
