vHOA Board of Directors Training 101 ~ If you are a new board member of a homeowner’s association, then this workshop is a must attend! Just being elected, in and of itself, does not prepare you to serve on the board. Join us to learn the basics about the state laws applicable to being a board member, understanding your fiduciary responsibilities, and how to run an effective organization. Neighborhood Pride Grant Workshop
The Neighborhood Pride Grant program is designed to help revitalize and beautify Orange County ’s neighborhoods. Grants are open to all neighborhood organizations and homeowner associations in unincorporated Orange County .
A neighborhood representative must attend a workshop before
a neighborhood is eligible to apply for a grant. The next workshop is:

vAvailable Grant Projects:
Landscaping: Grant funding is available for projects seeking an award up to $2,500. Projects require a community contribution, which is equal to a percentage of the grant request. Total project costs must not exceed $3,125.
Capital Improvements: The Orange County Neighborhood Pride Capital Improvement Grant provides funding to neighborhood organizations, homeowner associations, and non-profit organizations for physical and aesthetic improvements to their community. Examples of projects are: Common or recreational area improvements (cleaning, repairs or upgrades), playground, picnic tables, benches and pavilions/gazebo construction, fence/ wall pressure washing and painting, ground lighting, entrance wall signs and improvements.
Wall Repair: The purpose of the Neighborhood Pride Wall Repair Grant is to provide an opportunity for neighborhood organizations and individual property owners to receive financial assistance to make repairs to subdivision walls.
Entranceway Grant: The Orange County Neighborhood Entranceway Grant Program provides funding to neighborhood organizations and homeowner associations for physical and aesthetic improvements to their community. Examples of projects are: signage, repair to existing irrigation systems, wall pressure washing and painting, ground lighting.

vAdopt-A-Tree~ The Adopt-A-Tree supply is limited to two 7-gallon trees per household and only one time during the program, proof of Orange County residency is required. Trees may only be planted on private property of Orange County residents. They may not be planted on public property, retention ponds, or common area property of HOA's or developments.
Orange County/University of Florida IFAS Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer landscape questions. The next tree adoption event will be held the on following date, 8am to 12 noon, or when all trees are gone:

vBeyond Baseball: The Life of Roberto Clemente ~ Now until March 18th ~A Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition: Roberto Clemente Walker (1934-1972), who played baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates for 18 years, remains a legendary figure in sports, in philanthropy, and in the hearts of millions in Puerto Rico and America. With a cannon arm and lightning speed that earned him 12 consecutive Gold Glove Awards, four batting crowns, and 3,000 hits, Clemente was an outstanding baseball player, but the Puerto Rico native was also a dedicated humanitarian. Beyond Baseball: The Life of Roberto Clemente, developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, the Smithsonian Latino Center, the Clemente family, and the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, is a bilingual tribute to his outstanding achievements that takes visitors on a journey into sports history, ethnic pride, and a profound commitment to helping others. vDrug Trends on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Training ~ Thursday, February 16th, 2:30pm to 4:30pm -Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a term we once referred to as shell shock or battle fatigue syndrome and thought to only occur in war veterans. But PTSD is a serious condition that anyone can develop after experiencing a traumatic or terrifying event in which serious physical harm occurred or was threatened.
