Can anyone recommend a data recovery person/shop in Ann Arbor? A co-worker
had a machine which was recovered/repaired with a factory disc. He said
he's lost access to some (but not all) of the files on it.

Googling shows a bunch of places that do recovery but I struggle to
recommend someone's work who I don't know. I don't wish to personally do

The TMRA Hamfest is coming up March 17th 8am-2pm. AHA members might be
interested in attending even if they are not hams as it's a great place to
get parts and tools. Prices are usually pretty good and you actually walk
out item in hand rather than wait weeks for it to arrive from China when
you order online.

aftermarket since most of them are a lower amperage rating than the

Definitely.

Either slic3r (for 3D printers but works for thick slices in image format
mode) or Cut3D (installed on cnc machine) could take a 3D model and make
slices you could run on the laser.

No time to personally help with this but a few people at AHA know the
software and could possibly help.

Also the bolts/nuts they use (if you need them) are in a box in my locker
(#1). I have various lengths in there. If any boxes run-out, let me know
and I'll replace them.

Neat looking.

My guess is it will take 4-5 hours to print each one and clean up the parts
for assembly. If you wanted to make a bunch, it would probably be
better/faster to make a mold with the 3D printer and then fill it with
resin.

What does it look like? Is it for the 3-color strips where there are 3

Like really..why? Someone popped apart the controller for the colored LEDS
on the back bench and they don't seem to work anymore. I'm not rich and
that thing cost somewhere between 30 and 40 bucks.

I know this is a hackerspace but there's hacking and then there's breaking
stuff for no purpose.

I'm not sure about the example you gave, but I think you are correct that
the problem can be solved at each step. However it would appear to require
some kind of input or approval from every person in the chain. My thinking

I'm not quite sure, actually... I'm working on a group project that's
due tonight for a class, and it seems like it may run longer than
expected. Is there some point on Tuesday that would work for you? If
not I might be able to get out of the group for the time it'd take to
do the laser cutter stuff at 6:30.

If you want, I can run the class for you tonight from 6:30 to 7:30ish. It's
$15 for non-members and $10 for members. If anyone else is interested in
it, let me know. I'm happy to run it for a bigger class.

Class includes instruction on how to use it safely and one hour of time for
use after the class.

I have asked my associate to get better pictures and to try to look for the
id panel.

He does not have a LIFT. But the lighter one is easily movable. And the
bigger was he was able to budge it. So I would think a minimum of 4 persons
could tilt it and a journeyman pull it on a low trailer.

He was not able to locate any identification marks on the device's. Just
manufacture. And looking up their website we see this is apparently not
documented online. So the attached pictures are all that is available.

A fellow employee, is moving houses (Ionia to Lansing Area) and has two
injection molding press in his garage, a small and large, see attached
pictures. He has offered for free to any makerspace that is willing to come
and get it before the final sell of the house, Oct 18th. It comes with some
molds, tools, bags of different plastics and the big one runs on 3 phase

This system has served me well for many years, but I'm reclaiming physical
space. This computer is free to a good maker home that will use it for
learning, doing cool stuff, or for parts. The computer was built in
September 2006, and is in perfect working condition, as far as I know,
except that the BIOS needs to be updated in order for power-saving features

Nice, just looking at the pictures makes me terribly curious about how
easily we could build similar mechanisms for the extruded aluminum, and
steel pipe that we have in abundance down at AHA.
The web site links to a number of different CAD/DXF files for the parts
(not sure if it's all of them)
