Josh: There's no limit on time to file... in theory, though, you can't count contributions to this point as tax deductible.
But there is an automatic 12 month extension.

Procedure for requesting extension.
http://www.irs.gov/publications/p557/ch03.html#en_US_2011_publink1000200045For help with the 1023, I recommend the
501c3 book for less than $40 -- an online e-book written by a lawyer who was on the IRS side of things for many years. Then, for peace of mind, you may want to pass your 1023 by a lawyer; see some listed in our
Resource Directory, either under Starting a nonprofit or legal management.
Don't hesitate to call/email if you have further questions. When you're set up, please put a profile in our
Nonprofit Directory; I've added your email to our mailing list, so you'll get an occasional notice from NEW (you can always opt out).

Message:Hello,
We (All Hands Active) are in the final phase of filling out our 501c3 application. Unfortunately, we are beyond the 27 month point, and are looking for some assistance in finalizing and submitting our application.
Do you have any recommendations on someone we can communicate with on this matter?
Thank you!
