Hallo hallo,

So the $900 incoming from the Nine Tuna Foundation is our first nonprofit donation. Nine Tuna supports science education, and that seems to be why he chose to give us this grant. I don't know what the general method of doing with general granty donations is, but it seems to me that it would be most appropriate to allocate the donated funds to the activities that caused them to be donated in the first place: namely, Bright Futures. Although Bright Futures does pay AHA and its contractors and does have a small budget, I would nonetheless like to propose that we allocate this full $900 to teaching materials (tools, parts, etc.) for Bright Futures so that we can deliver an even better educational experience to these classes.

What say you?

That's pretty sweet!

Can someone remind me - is NTF run by Dale Grover?
Did he just offer this, did someone ask / apply for it?

Either way, considering that Bright Futures pay in is what keeps AHA afloat, I'd be fine with allocating that to upgrading BF.

1) NTF = Dale Grover. Well, he's at least one of the contacts listed in the whois report for ninetuna.org

2) Yes, I am in favor of this : )
 - Almost any reusable tool that we get would beenfit both Bright Futures, and AHA.
 - Here's a quick run down of equipment I know would help a ton. I'm sure there's more, but off the top of my head:
 - - Half dozen sets of hex/star bit screw drivers (~$75)
 - - Half dozen sets of jewelry sized screw drivers (~$75)
 - - Half dozen Pentium M era laptops (Thinkpad T42/T43, Inspiron 6000) (~$400 to $600 used for a half dozen)

Those are just my immediate thoughts, I'm sure there are a million different ways to go about spending this money. I can say that the above items would make life a lot easier for classes involving Wreck Lab, Make Lab, Arduino, Processing, Blender, etc. I would be happy to make a commitment to  getting classes going at both Bright Futures & AHA that could utilize this equipment.

3) Another option, typically in the past Bright Futures has been able to allocate ~$3 to $10 p/student p/class for materials. Budgets this semester have been reduced this, and some schools are telling us they don't have a material budget for us. I'm talking with Kimberly about contacting other organizations to donate supplies, or money for, but this could be another option as well.

The more resources we can offer to make Bright Futures compelling and awesome, the better.

Moga is writing a very large grant that would help support these efforts, and all of AHA's activities, as well.
