It's that time of the year again -- soon you will be asked to cast your
votes to determine which intrepid group of five will pilot the rugged
Starship AHA for the next six months. Since October's elections went so
well, we've decided to repeat the process:
- Today - April 19: People can start nominating themselves or others
over the mailing list.
- April 19: If you nominate yourself or accept someone else's
nomination, send an email explicitly stating that you are running to
bo...@allhandsactive.com *by this date!* You might also want to send a
note to this list so that people know you are running.
- April 19 - April 26: If you know that you are unable to make it to the
voting party, you will be able to submit your absentee ballot at the
front desk during this period. We will send along more info on this as
the date approaches.
- April 26 (technically a day early, so we can do it on a Thursday):
Build-a-board! Converge on AHA around 7:00PM, eat potluck-style foods,
and cast your ballot.
- April 27: New board is put in place.
For those who were not present at the last election, we will be using an
instant-runoff-style vote. You will assign each nominee a number from 1
to N (N being the number of nominees we have by the 19th). Higher
numbers represent the nominees you favor most, with 1 being your
least-favored. We will add up all of your ranking values and pick the
five highest-scoring nominees, who will become the next board.
If you are a fully-paid standard member ($50), student or starving
hacker member ($20) in April, you are entitled to one vote. You are
welcome to become a paying member at any time up until the 26th if you
would like to be counted for this election.
For your memory-stimulating convenience, the current board may be found
below:
Alexander Honkala
Kimberly Frey
Michael Senkow
Nathan Dotz
Nathan Yost
See you on the 26th!
-- Nate Y.
You forgot to mention anyone contributing 10,000$ or more to the space will be entitled to one additional vote.
Who else will join me? Please be sure to put in your name (and a blurb
about yourself and what you would like to accomplish) here and at
bo...@allhandsactive.com before the end of April 19th. We need *five*
members on the board, so please consider volunteering your time and
brainmeats to help to keep things running smoothly.
To briefly recap my last term, I have been focusing on getting AHA's
name out in the general public by participating in relevant tech and
cultural events. Every time this happens, we have a great response and
create interest in the space with people who are always surprised to
learn that AHA exists.
My goals for the subsequent term include seeing the remainder of the
Dogfort project (a.k.a. our tool shop expansion) through to completion,
especially by procuring tools, and getting ventilation in that space so
that you can safely create dust to your heart's content. I would also
like to continue my mission of putting AHA's name out in the public
sphere and forging alliances with any similarly-aligned groups in the
area. I hope to attract new, long-term members by doing this.
Yours faithfully,
-- Nate Y.

I appreciate your nomination, Xander, but I will not be running for board member this go around. I don't think I'm ready to fully jump back into AHA as of yet. I'm doing Penguicon stuff, planning a HackerChef before DEMF, and then focusing on going back to school. Perhaps I would be willing to take over for Xander when he leaves AHA, but not at this phase. AHA deserves a better qualified and focused board member than I can provide.
Lol @ aspie professionalism, but I'm not an official member, and don't think I would have the time either. I'll just continue to stop by when I can and help out/teach random stuff when I can.

Today is the final day for board nominations, and we will be finalizing
the nominees at midnight tonight. You are allowed to nominate yourself,
in case there was any confusion.
So far we have in the running:
Xander Honkala
Nate Dotz
Nate Yost
The bylaws call for 5 board members, so get your name in if you can help
out with AHA's organizational side.
Cheers,
-- Nate Y.

Anyone else I missed? (please do CC nominations to
bo...@allhandsactive.com so I don't have to dig through this thread for
names. ;) )
-- Nate Y.
I believe Jenn Mann was nominated as well? Did she decide to not run?
I also nominated Josh if he would accept.
