It is almost time to start brewing at AHA: http://www.allhandsactive.com/events/home-brewing-with-aha/

We need to know what style of beer you want to brew so we can buy supplies. Those who intend to join us, what are your thoughts?

Do you need equipment? I can bring some of my brewing equipment.

Nope. We've got a full set. 9 gallon brew pot, propane burner, wort chiller, 7 gallon primary fermenter.

You are welcome to bring yours though if you would like to do a batch of your own at the same time!

I thought we might keep the fermenter either by the back door where it is colder or somewhere in the back rooms where it won't be disturbed and is slightly cooler. I'm not sure which is better. Lagers are out of the question though.

I'm all aboard, my contribution is to say I think we should brew something that is suited for the warm temperature of the space. I'm all aboard for whatever y'all want to make!!!=)

Well, we can log different areas in the Space, the good old fashioned hacker way to determine where it stays the closest to 72F at all times. Could be a fun rpi project or something.

Emilio - I think the recipe you shared looks good. http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f70/bee-cave-brewery-bavarian-hefeweizen-35679/

I've never done a full mash before but I'd be up for trying it.

Do you have a mash tun? How are you planning on actually doing it?

Also, if it's your first all-grain I think it may make sense to get a bit more of the base malt than the recipe calls for, on the assumption that your mash efficiency won't be super high.

After Emilio mentioned it I checked with friends and one has an igloo type cooler that has been converted to a mash turn. It would be my first all grain. I've not done one before. Would you be interested in trying an all grain? Have you done one before?

I'd prefer partial or extract as those would be much easier to handle and quicker to do. We could find something with the same style of beer in a partial or extract.

Do we know what beer we are brewing, I'd like to help buy supplies.

I'm going to stop by the store on Friday and and pick out something similar to what you posted but in an extract form instead of all grain. This should be significantly easier for us to do quickly if we have people there who haven't done any brewing before.

I'll take care of picking everything up. If you want to throw in a few dollars on Saturday that is cool but not necessary.

I need to see if we have a faucet close to the back of AHA for us to attach a hose to. If not, I need to pickup a garden hose or we need to skip using the wort chiller.

I'm watching the weather and right now it is clear. So I think otherwise we are set.
