artists from around the world are called upon to make online submissions for
the theme “Landscapes” for inclusion into the January 2011 online group

 Fused Medium: Visual Art Competition for Emerging Artists Deadline:
12/29/2010 SNC2 Ink is launching Fused Medium: A Visual Art Competition for
Emerging Artists to select 10-15 works as the visual content for an upcoming
book project to be realeased Spring 2011. Calling for submissions- Digital
Media, Photography, Mixed Media, Special Effects Graphic Design, other. The
competition runs from November 15, 1010 to December 29, 2010 with winners
announced im early January 2011. In addition to having his/her artwork
selected for publication, the winning artist will also receive a cash prize
of $500, and an opprtunity to showcase the winning artwork as well as
previous collections in a private exhibition sponsored by SNC2 Ink in
collaboration with Onixlink.com. The contest is open to US citizens only.
Applicant at least 21 years of age or older, may submit works of art in any

CALL FOR FUNERAL DIRECTORS--The Five Funerals Project Deadline: 12/30/2010
Five funerals will take place in Spring 2011 at The Charnel House, a former
funeral home in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. Each of the five
Sundays in May will be dedicated to the contemplation of one notional death
and a celebration of its notable life. Apply at http://fivefunerals.com/ The
community will gather to reminisce and tell stories of an honored cultural
idea that has passed away without the fanfare it deserved. The Alliance of
Pentaphilic Curators (J. Dunda and T. McClelland) will set the stage for
five different Chicago writers or artists to host as the funeral Celebrant
each week. Each selected master of ceremonies (Celebrant) will be
responsible for setting the broad theme of each funeral and will be charged
with the task to invite other cultural producers to participate and enhance
the occasion with specific mourning actions and events. Celebrants will be
chosen based upon proposals that detail their intended decedent and how they
hope to honor him/her/it. Possible themes could include but are not limited
to: -things we just discovered never really existed (the Brontosaurus,
retirement funds, diseases for which we received a wrong diagnosis) -places
and things that make Chicago 'not what it used to be' now that they’re gone
(Field’s, the Ferris Wheel restaurant, the "Sears Tower", city controlled
parking meters) -things that seemed very important at the time (Y2K,
relationships, online purchases, white teeth) Each funeral reception to be
artistically catered by Bleeding Heart Bakery. These Sunday events will be
free and open to the public. Friends and family will enjoy a unique and
appropriate epicurean tribute to each of the departed. Recipe books with the
5 different funeral delicacies and the written tribute to each of the
