Good afternoon members,

Again, here we are, deciding time. I've been clever this month and found out whether the room is available before we decide on a date and we therefore have two options:

Monday 24th Oct
Thursday 27th Oct.

Unfortunately Halloween is booked up so  there is no need to come dressed as witches and warlocks - of course, this is still an option.

As far as themes go we're going back to a bit of software development after a great session on team working, systems thinking and flow.

I'll do a short talk on CQRS as I'd like to canvass opinion on it, while Paul Williams is going to talk about backbone.js and possibly something about the use of frameworks (or not using frameworks) ala Uncle Bob's recent musings.

We'll then follow this with a kata. Current front runner for the kata is the Ordered Jobs kata that Martin Rue came up with recently (http://invalidcast.com/).

As ever though, the floor is open for lightning talks and the kata is also open for suggestion. If you have something you are passionate about, something you want to ask, something to reveal, test or try out on us, then now is your chance. We can fill the whole session with lightning talks if there is enough interest so please, have a think, and let us know.

Looks like Thursday is currently the front runner, if you have an opinion and would to cast your vote please do so before 9:30am tomorrow as I'll need to get back to the Pie and Ale House before they let out the room to a 50th birthday party or something.

.... and Thursday it is. I've just asked the Pie and Ale House to book us in - Thursday 27th Oct - that's only just over a week away.

I've not had any additional offers for short talks, there is still plenty of room though

Hello,

I will gladly do a short presentation and feedback on how my TDD classes have gone since our brainstorm session earlier in the year. People may find it interesting, albeit briefly.

Regards,

T.

Trevor, that will be a very interesting talk, good for the group to see progress from a previous session.

Also, I've volunteered to lecture at the University of Nottingham in November so could do with some pointers before I walk a mile in your shoes. I'll feed back from that in the Nov meeting.

Quick question y'all. Probably not going to get time to sort the
Backbone.js lightening talk unless tomorrow goes VERY WELL. However,
the talk on Screaming Architecture / frameworks should be ok. If
anyone has one, can they please bring in an Apple Mini-DVI to VGA
cable so I can plug my 2ghz white plastic Macbook into the projector.

Cheers.

Paul, what do you need to run on your Mac? You could just email it to me instead, or bring it on a USB stick.

I should also remind everyone to bring their laptops as half the session will be dedicated to a kata.

Can someone who will be taking a laptop, and has the ability to connect to the projector, and will be there before me, download the attached PDF and PowerPoint please? I'm coming straight from work and will not have my laptop.

If you're there early you can even connect up and open this presentation on slide one as I normally do.

Cheers, see you all later.
