Miss our Munich Gathering?

Over 275 Scrum enthusiasts gathered in Munich, Germany October 19 through 21 to discuss all things Scrum. It was a great three days of interactive learning with everything from keynotes, clinics, breakout sessions, dialogue room, guerilla open space sessions, to lively cocktail receptions, networking, eating, and drinking. Highlights from day one included an opening keynote session from an enthusiastic Jeff Sutherland about the performance gains he observed with the introduction of Scrum in enterprises.

Improvement Communities: Continuous Improvement

Scrum is about improvement; improving processes, development practices, and communication to deliver a better product. In that spirit we’re continuing to improve the Scrum Alliance through Improvement Communities (IC). During the Scrum Alliance board meeting in Germany, we decided to use the IC model for several areas of interest and have a board member serve as the Product Owner (PO).

Join the Discussion

ICs have grown organically into other entities. An IC headed by Doug Shimp has formed a Google Group for discussion on Scrum topics. This group is embraced by the Scrum Alliance, and you can join the discussion here. The Scrum Alliance website also includes a link for joining the Google Group.

Interim Managing Director Named. Search for Replacement Underway.

The Scrum Alliance has named Lowell Lindstrom as the new Interim Managing Director. Lowell has been involved in developing and deploying software products for nearly 25 years and is a Certified ScrumMaster, Practitioner, and Trainer (you can view his bio here).

In the meantime, the board is initiating a search for a Managing Director, who will take the reins when Lowell completes his period as Interim Director. The search will be national in scale, and we will employ an executive recruiting organization with a proven track record of filling similar positions. We will provide information as job requirements are developed and notify when the position is open for applications. Board member Steve Fram is the chair of our hiring committee. You can contact him if you have any questions concerning the recruiting process.

Welcome our new CSTs!

Join us in congratulating our newest Certified Scrum Trainers, who were certified during our Munich Gathering:
