Hi there

I'm currently preparing a workshop and want to introduce the concept
of system dynamics. What games do you use to introduce these concepts?

Thanks!
Marc

Hi Marc,

I'm not an expert in the area but I do believe that the MIT Beer Game is a great way to get started. It's somewhat of an investment though, both in the game and the time.

Hi Mark,

I'm not sure what do you mean by this workshop and will try to propose a few of them.

This is The Bottleneck Game based on Theory of Constraints and definetely helps to learn system syncing.

Another idea is to look through the Games map developed by Mike Sahota and select the one matching your goals.

Hi Timofey

Thanks for the link to Mike's games map, I'll definitely bookmark it.
I decided to use the following simple games in my workshop:
- Paper Tearing
- Avalanche Game

Cheers

How about using "settlers of Catan" - Jurgen Appelo version.

Marc,

I did the beer game today using this version:
It worked ok once students worked out how to get past the proxy and install java if need be.
All they did today was look at the game and play it. I'll go over the outcome next week.

A better version is this one perhaps though, which has lots of materials to help you.
That's probably the one I'll use next time.
