Hi,

I read the book "Death by meeting" by Patrick Lencioni, as I wrote in
previous mail, the book is very good and interesting. Here I want to
ask whether anybody read "...Dysfunctions of team..." by the same
author ("Five Disfunctions of team", "Overcoming Disfunctions of team"
etc. - and by the way, is here big differences between those books or
it is some kind of "next edition"). Maybe you know something about
psychology aspects of team building... I have found in internet-shop
russion edition of "Team playears: be your best... and beyond", but
still think about "to buy or not to buy" :).

Maybe you can advice something interesting about "team" ("Peopleware"
by Tom DeMarco I have read).

Thanks in advance,
Maxym

Hi Max,

I think each book on agile is very much about people involved in the
project - the teams.
I am very much enjoying Alistair Cockburn's 2nd edition of Agile
Software Development: The Cooperative Game.
http://www.amazon.com/Agile-Software-Development-Cooperative-Game/dp/0321482751/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-4921890-3092931?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179526845&sr=8-2

It is about building agile methodology but covers lots of interesting
topics on individual and team psychology.

Also you may find interesting "the new thing" called Holacracy - it is
a way of building agile enterprises by means of interdependent teams
with members from different company's levels. See holacracy.org for
more info.

Hello Alex,

Thanks for information. Esther Derby (co-author of "Agile Retrospective: Making Good Team Great") have recommended me the following book:

"Collaboration Explained:  Facilitation Skills for Software Project Leaders" from the same series "The Agile Software Development Series".

All read about this book shows, that this one is really good stuff too.

Concerning meetings:

Five Dysfunctions of team is a book in the novel style, (like "|eath by Meeting"), concerned with dysfunctional teams.
The five dysfunctions model is available from the site of Patrick Lencioni http://www.tablegroup.com/, and I have attached it to this message/

Also there is a webinar dedicated to this topic htttp://www.tablegroup.com/dysfunctions/webinar/,
zip file of which can be downloaded.

The second book  (Overcoming ...) has more details about overcoming dysfunctions of team.

I would also add the following books concerning meetings
Agile Retrospectives - Making Good Teams Great (Esther Derby and Diana Larsen) - concerning retrospectives

Also by the Scrum Master  course (and also by Diana Larsen) the following book is recommended:
The Art of Focused Conversation:
http://www.amazon.com/Art-Focused-Conversation-Access-Workplace/dp/0865714169

And finally, Jerry Weinberg recomends following books about meetings
http://www.amazon.com/Make-Meetings-Work-Michael-Doyle/dp/0515090484

It was reviewed by Brian Marick here:
http://www.testing.com/writings/reviews/doyle-meetings.html
