Profiles of biologists needed -- you can help!
AIBS is working with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to create a "Profiles in
Biology" web page, a resource that will highlight different career paths for
students interested in pursuing careers in biology. The information will be
added to the Sloan Career Cornerstone Center (SCCC) at
http://www.careercornerstone.org/profiles.htm, which includes profiles of
professionals working in the fields of computing, engineering, healthcare,
mathematics, science, and technology. These profiles are useful to students,
career counselors, and others seeking to explore the range of career paths
available to those with degrees in these fields. This resource is accessed
by nearly 100,000 students, teachers, and guidance counselors per month. At
the moment, there are very few profiles of biologists -- see
http://www.careercornerstone.org/biology/profiles/bioprofiles.htm -- among
the many chemists, physicists, etc.
Adding a profile is simple! Return the quick survey located here:
http://www.careercornerstone.org/biology/profiles/biosurvey.doc with a photo
of yourself (.jpg or .gif) to sloancare...@aol.com. A web page of your
profile will be created and you will be contacted for final changes and
approval. Your personal contact information (phone/email) will not be
provided on the site. We will be highlighting profiles of biologists from
this collection on the Year of Science 2009 Web site and would greatly
appreciate your participation to highlight the great career diversity in the
biological sciences!
If you have any questions, please email sloancare...@aol.com or Bernadette
Farrelly in the Membership and Community Programs Office at AIBS:
bfarre...@aibs.org <mailto:spot...@aibs.org> . Thank you.
