Post-Doctoral Position in Fish Behavior and Invasive Species Management
A two-year post-doctoral research position to conduct a large-scale invasive
species intervention through the application of a fish alarm substance in
the Great Lakes and to study the effects of the risk information on the
decision-making of the sea lamprey during the reproductive migration. The
research associate will: (1) be responsible for project coordination and
leadership, including management of field and laboratory technicians, and
the production of peer-reviewed publications based on findings; and, (2)
work cooperatively with the project lead investigator at MSU (Dr. Michael
Wagner) and a public-private team of co-investigators spanning Federal
agencies and the private sector. This is a high-visibility project;
leadership skills are a must. The position requires a Ph.D. degree with
experience desirable in fish behavior, telemetry-based movement studies in
aquatic ecosystems, invasive species management, or a related field. Field
experience with fish telemetry is highly desirable. A record of publication
in one or more of these areas is required. Start date is negotiable, but
targeted for no later than January 1, 2013. The position will be based in
East Lansing, Michigan at Michigan State University and will require
