I would suggest relying on your account statistics, rather than
continually searching for your ad. When you look at the statistics for
your keywords in the ad group view, you will see a column for Avg Pos,
or Average Position. This is a factual and accurate accounting of the
average of all your ad's actual positions, for all it's appearances,
per keyword, during the date range at which you are looking.
If you set your account to view the statistics for 'Today' you will
see your average position for all appearances during the current day.
Viewing the stats for 'Yesterday' will show you the average position
for all appearances during the previous 24 hour day, working midnight
to midnight Pacific Time.
If you must actually see your ad to feel comfortable, I'd suggest that
you use the ad preview page, as discussed at the page linked-to below.
This tool allows you to see your ads, along with those of your
competitors, without accruing an impression.

Please note that if you have targeted many different countries, it is
very likely that your ad will appear in different positions in each
country, dependent upon the competitive landscape for your keyword in
that country.
