Subject: Google changing Destination URL to track keywords? SalesForce related?
Folks,

While modifying an existing text ad, I noticed that my destination URL
had been changed to include additional text -- everything after
the .htm below (?_kk....)

www.geostats.com/product_trav.htm?_kk={keyword}&_kt=079823b3-cd30-414c-a6b0-23b8275f99bf

For some reason, I thought maybe I had accidentally put this larger
URL in when I created this ad (e.g., copy/paste error).   So I took
out the added text and returned the URL to end with .htm.

Now it occurs to me this might be related to an AdWords feature or a
feature related to Saleforce.com integration (their tools integrate
with Google), and is something we recently deployed.

2 questions:
(1) Can somone point me to info about what this is about?
(2) is there a way to get this extra text to come back?  (I'm hoping
it'll just be re-added but that hasn't happened yet; yet being 10
minutes later.)

Thanks,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Yes, the _kk= and _kt= tracking parameters are added by the Kieden app
(now called Salesforce for Google AdWords).  That app updates your
destination URLs via the AdWords API.  There's sometimes a noticeable
time lag between when you edit your URLs and when the app updates
them.  Anytime you make a change, it will make another pass.  You can
always check the history tool to see when the updates occur.

Note that you can have your own parameters and/or Google's auto-
tagging (gclid=) and the Salesforce for Google AdWords will simply
append their tracking at the end.  For more details, see this post on
their official blog:
