Subject: Tip Of The Week: Local Business Ads
In response to your feedback, we will be trying occasional posts on
AdWords tips and tricks. As always, your input/post ideas are
welcome....
*************************************************************

All regular text ads that are opted into the Google Network are
eligible to show on Google Maps under the sponsored business listings.
However, if you are a local business, creating a Local Business Ad is
a great way to increase your exposure on Google Maps and save some
green while doing it!

The way ranking works on Google Maps, Local Business Ads will always
be shown before regular text ads, regardless of the CPC bid. So, for
example, lets say I have a bakery in Boston and am bidding $5 for the
keyword 'bakery' targeted to the Boston metro (in a regular keyword
targeted campaign). If a competitor across the street created a Local
Business Ad and bid $0.05 for the keyword 'bakery', his or her ad
would out rank my bakery ad because it is a Local Business Ad.

If you are already running keyword targeting campaigns, creating a
Local Business Ad is very similar. You can find complete steps that
walk you through the process at http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=34036&topic=8520.

One final note: you have to have a physical address/ storefront to
create a Local Business Ad. If you decide that you do no want to
create an ad, you can still add your listing for free buy visiting the
Local Business Center: http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=34063

More tips coming soon…
