Hi

Is anyone able to run Adwhirl server on a Non AWS. I saw some
discussions in older loops but no concrete result found.

Casey, I saw your suggestion. Did it work finally?

We've been running AdWhirl in production on AppEngine for over a month now.  But, the code base isn't really ready for non-developer usage.  Some important features are missing (house ads and stats).  Added am important feature for us of parameters to custom events though, as that was a requirement for a campaign we started here and why we went into production when it wasn't quite ready.

The future of the code is pretty uncertain.  It's all checked in to my branch on google code, although a dependent library for the UI has not been, as it's internal-only for now.  We were planning on polishing it up, open-sourcing the UI library, and releasing something that people could just drop on AppEngine and go, but the new pricing changes have us all in a tizzy.  Once the dust clears on that, we will decide if we can devote more resources to the AppEngine port.

App engine ad whirl would be great.

I know it's been a few months - but is there any update to this ? I would love to be able to host my own adwhirl server away from amazon. I feel your pain about the costs btw... One of my apps went up 90x !! Thank heavens it's "fixed" now.

My branch of the AdWhirl google codebase does work on AppEngine.  It's not 100% feature coverage and there's zero reporting, but it does serve ads, including house ads...

We aren't going to do any more work on it due our stance on AppEngine and the weakness in the mobile ad market generally shifting our main business focus.

But if you do get motivated to continue the port or simply want to get what's there working for you (it's definitely alpha/beta quality code and not for anyone that can't jump in and work on things at least a bit), feel free to reply singly and I can try and help out.
