Reflections from a Ride Across the Country - Will Brownsberger - Sat., April 14, 3-5pm
In the late summer of 2011, I rode a bicycle from Belmont to the Pacific Coast in Anacortes, Washington. I rode with full camping gear, averaged 85 miles a day and did the back 2/3 of the ride solo. The 41-day ride was grueling but was also an emotional peak experience from beginning to end. It took me through the endless majesty of North American agriculture, through the environmental depradations of the fracking boom and through some wildly beautiful country. It took me through urban and rural wealth and poverty. I met a lot of very kind people in blue states and red states. The trip did permanently alter my sense of the world. I have got some beautiful photos, some good stories and a few perspectives to share.
