I went to the blog article and other than only working with Image and
Text ads, I couldn't see any other downside to it.
I followed the related and explanatory links listed in the article and
although at first it seemed a bit daunting, I realized that simply
following the step by step made it stupid simple to set up.
One thing I wonder though, will I ever be able to know when, how often
and/or people click on third party ads? I don't know how exactly that
would be done although maybe a ratio of AdSense
to third party ad impressions and/or there being a way to identify
clicks as to their "origin", AdSense ad or Third party ad, or
something of the like. Even with out this though, it sounds like a
great step forward!
So ...
If we already have "text and image ads" we are set up for the 3rd
party adverts? or do we have to choose just "text ads"?
Is there some place that tells you if you are recieving 3rd party
adverts? I don't see anything different....

I disabled image ads and my CTR and earnings went up. Is there any way
to try out third party ads without having to re-activate text/image
ads? I don't want to lose money whilst testing this new set up. Anyone
out there know?

I've updated mine already so you can just copy and paste the relevant
section if you want, just look for "Third party ads via Google
AdSense" at http://cass-hacks.com/privacy/

What I did was just re-enable it for one ad block to see how it goes.
Most of the third party partners seem to use image ads and even if not
all of them do, the ad block as to be prepared for any that do.
But again, see how it goes and if it doesn't work for you, it doesn't
work.
Hopefully the third party vendors will "get with the program" though
and come to their senses and make text only ads available but who
knows if they will.
...and how do I avoid getting "punch the ****ing monkey" ads as that
will degrade my site significantly.
Currently I like that Google ads is targetted towards my content, so
ads are 'generally' useful to visitors vs. random crap I would never
click on myself at other sites.

I understand that you are keen to have improved reporting for third-
party ads. Please be assured that I have communicated this feedback to
our product team.
If you have reservations about enabling image ads on your sites, you
might want to try Cass-hacks' idea and do so for just one ad unit at
first. You can create a custom channel to monitor the performance of
this ad unit, and then decide if you'd like to enable image ads on
more pages.
As mentioned in the blogpost, we believe that the increased ad
inventory and ad competition resulting from third-party ad serving
will lead to increased revenue for many publishers.
Please be aware that third-party ads need to comply with the same
guidelines as AdWords ads. Also, you can use the Ad Review Centre to
control which placement-targeted ads appear on your pages, so you have
control over which ads will appear.
If you have any more feedback, please let us know.

Before third-party ads where in I had a average of 19.5% placement ads
displayed
When the third-party ads where new it rose to 30%
But the last 2-3 days it dropped to 2.5% (but the average payout is
around equal to before third party ads started)
My site has around 400000 ad impressions a day but a click through
rate of 0.06-0.10%.
The placement ads have a double as high eCPM compared to the
contextual ads so it was more profitable with more placement ads.
Just wondering if this adjustment from 30% placement ads to 2.5%
placement ads is just a result of adjusting because it's new or
something messing up. I have the "Ad Review Center" and it has more
than a hundred ads (at least 50 pages of 10 ads and Firefox crashes
completely when I try to do the 100 entries at a time)
It's configured to default (Allow all ads and display immediately)

The Google site states that Adsense websites need to update their
policies about 3rd party ads, and:
"# Provide links to the appropriate vendor websites.
# Inform your users that they may visit those vendor websites to opt
out of cookies (if the vendor offers this capability)."
Google wants every Adsense webmaster to provide all the links to these
vendors in our privacy policies?
Or am I reading this wrong?
