I a trying to encode my time line to a Mpeg2-dvd. 4by3 format.

I have now see two different errors.

First was

end of encoding
export error
unknown error!

Second is

export error
api failure.

Any ideas?

I am going to retry with PPro 1.0 and see what happens.

Thanks

Dave

Okay, I used the same files, and encoded using PPro 1.0,
and it worked fine. So, this would have me think PPro 1.5
has a bug.

Any thoughts?

It looks like 1.5 has a lot of bugs :-(

I know this isn't Adobe support but I'll try this anyway......

Well, I've encoded quite a few timelines, and it went mostly smooth. I strongly suspect something's wrong with the timeline. I suggest cleaning off all the rendering, preview, confogming audio - everything, before attempting to render/encode with PPro-1.5.

I have encoded quite a few hours as Mpeg 2 with Pro 1.5 without those errors.
I have had one wierd episode...fade up from black at the beginning of the video, then quickly to a Pro title overlaying the video. The video froze for several seconds during the title on the Mpeg 2 output file and the resulting DVD.
The workaround involved exxporting a DV AVI of the small section and overlaying that on the beginning of the movie..

Weird - now I got that "Unknown Error!" pop-up myself. The symptoms: MPEG-2 encoding of 1h35m DV AVI (type 2) file to MPEG-2 (min 3Mbps, target 5.5Mbps, max 7Mbps, AC3 2/0 audio 192Kbps, interleaved). Using ADobe Media Encoder. Win XP Pro SP1, PPro-1.5, 1 GB RAM, 20 GB free on the target disk, 11 GB free on the source disk, 17 GB free on the system disk... Dual-Xeon 2.66 GHz box.

I can export sample projects to this profile OK. I can export any small piece fo this file OK. The whole file also seems to be exporting fine (the output video and audio seem OK), except that the intermediary files *.m2v and *.ac3 are not deleted (they are deleted when I export, e.g. Saleen sample project).

My timeline includes 2 titles made with PPro-1.5, one TIFF file scaled to 360x480 in Photoshop CS (no Alpha channel) and the video itself (hour and a half video, razor-cut into several clips). A few cross-dissolves between the inserted TIF and the video clips, a couple of fadings.

Anybody has an idea how to get rid of this error message?
